Such balance, poise, vision, he is unbelieveable. They couldn't deal with him tonight.

The man is a machine.

Might be best he waits until the end of the season so a replacement for Harry is found first.

Really does my head in when people say to be up there with the best they have to win with their country.
One player can't win a cup all by himself, especially with teams like Germany, Spain especially, Holland. People are being pathetic saying he can't be the best unless he wins something with the argies.

IMO The Champions League is the pinnacle of football at this moment in time.

He's no Andy Carroll. wink
Messi scored more goals in 1 game than Carroll has scored this season in the league. hehe
But he's not premiership proven. Oh and could he do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke or whatever the usual test is?

Flawless. Simply incredible. Seems a brilliant guy too, something football needs. What an artist.

we should consider ourselves fortunate to be able to see the game played like this in our lifetime...

generations have had their heroes...Pele, Maradonna (arguable), puskas, Banchflower, Best, Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Ronaldo etc...

we have Messi. At 24 he really could be the greatest ever.

I don't think they are saying it because you have to win something for your country. They are saying it because he plays for Barcelona surrounded by amazing players, he is great no doubt but Maradonna dragged a st Napoli side to become the European Champions and a stter Argentina side to World Champions. That's the difference. In Argentina he is surrounded by some great players but a lot of average ones, and his form dips.

The good thing is the amount of footage that is available to actually see him play. For example 222 Messi goals for Barcelona in 13 minutes.

Just think of all those greats that have played the game and there is only a few minutes or a handful of games footage available. For Maradona and other 70's and 80's greats there is probably a lot of footage of their international careers, but how much footage of their league career is available. It's probably only since the mid 90's where we have a good video archive of the top players.

I think that not only does he have the skill, he has the head. How many times will you see someone calm as you like lobbing the keeper twice in a game? Most strikers would just blaze away and see what happened. It is like he is on the training ground having a kick around with mates.
