Shame, would've been interesting to see how Vertonghen and T5 played together again. Squilaci out and him in would have been ideal. Oh well, last day bid for Pique, anyone?

Wasn't Jan being chased by us, Spurs and a couple of other clubs last year? Just read he scored 8 goals last year and was/is Ajax's captain. (Don't know much/keep tabs on Dutch football much TBH.) Just goes to show we should be taking a leaf out of Tottenham's book in some cases. The Levy/'Arry combination has brought in some decent players recently. Carry on like this and play the kids in the Europa next season and they'll be right back up there. Hopefully not above us though.

I had him down as a strong partnering with TV5, somewhat surprised if this goes through. I can only surmise we've not made a formal bid for him, as only a fool would select the Europa league over the champions league, shirley  .
