So FSG have made a pigs ear of the new manager search - who is advising these guys - initially I was told they had a formula and Martinez was a perfect fit to this however I'm sure someone has called Henry and said "perfect fit but a crap manager for the reds H".
In what way?

Exactly. You can't say something like that until they've actually appointed a new manager! If it was found out that FSG had been scoping out new managers whilst KK was in charge, it would have angered a lot of LFC fans and been seen as very disrespectful to KK. A bit like when it came out that the cancers had been talking to Klinsmann when RB was still in charge.

Wow. Volume 4. You boys get through volumes quicker than I do bottles of lube.

Good luck with the manager search.

I don't believe that for a second.

First sentence is entirely plausible and believable.
I may have been fibbing about the second hehe.

Wouldn't waste your breath. Its bizarre but there are more reasoned comments on my Twitter feed about LFC at the moment than on here. No wonder its gone quiet today.

So Reds who do you realistically want

I am gonna put my neck on the line and after spending more time thinking about it I think Martinez might just fit us perfect.
Whether he has managed at the top or not - Pep had not .

I think he philosophy of playing the game the right well would over time pay dividends for us.

I genuinely think that a less obvious manager would do you guys justice. The expectation with a AVB, or Capello, et al, might not be achievable. Someone like !artinez, with a 5 year plan, a la Moysie, could be what you need.

I see what you're saying. But do you really think the fans have the patience for this and do you think they're capable of seeing the bigger picture?

In my honest opinion we played great football for the majority of last season in the league. The results didn't follow though and many people think that justified sacking Kenny. Hypothetically if we were playing good football with Martinez but not getting the results i'd be happy to support him as I think in time the results will come, just like I did with Kenny.

Sadly I fear the mongs will be baying for blood unless we have instant success.

I would like to say "Rafa" but he went loopy lala after sacking Paco and took his eye off the ball altogether once he no longer had everything his own way under the (other) Yanks - Brian Reade's An Epic Swindle is a great read but doesn't paint him in that positive a light. Could he work under the (new) Yanks? And be effective without Paco? His heart would certainly be in the right place.

I think other than that, I'd go with Capello - but I can't see him moving up to Liverpool (or Formby/Southport/Cheshire). At the end of the day, I'll get behind whoever gets the job and hope for the best...

Rafa for me.

Can't think of one other world class manager that would actually love to manage LFC right now.
Plus he'd b able to attract the calibre of player we need to break back in to the top four (he signed some real gems for us in the past).

Unless he agreed otherwise though, employing Rafa might mean changing the structure of the club again so he is the main one in charge of things. He does seem to be a bit of a control freak. I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing in a footy manager myself but it may not fit with FSG's way of doing things.

Yeah, one would hope that he's learnt from his past experiences/mistakes.

I haven't a clue really, but my list would look something like...

1: Rafa
2: Rodgers

Eleventymillion: Martinez

Stealth and speed was the old way of doing things, sadly all the hangers on and advisors that occupy FSG and LFC nowdays have pet journos and feed them tittle tattle. We should conduct our business with class and as low profile as possible.

I've been cringing at some of the names being discussed. It's not Henry's fault he is doing what you do in business but I struggle to call my beloved LFC as a business.

Big task and heavy expectations ahead of anybody who takes over at Liverpool. It has to be one of the toughest jobs in football. Not surprised to read about people backing away.

It is the kind of position which could ruin an established managers reputation but, at the same time and if done well, can make a massive name out of a less successful/established coach. For that reason, my money is on somebody like AVB or Martinez taking over.

Do you think the new boss will get much money to build the team over the summer?
