Gaspode said: Here's ours. Only 2 berths, but then there's only the two of us. A Cracking choice the Starlet 2, great kitchen, lounge and bathroom all in a 20ft package. I must admit after 10 years of selling the things and having borrowed almost every type of van in those years an Autocruise of that sort of vintage would be my weapon of choice, probably a 4 berth Starspirit layout wise for me but they are proper rare!

Hi all, I little bit jealous of all your new metal, plastic and canvas. WE have owned this T25 for two months and so far just done some local camping trips to get used to it. Might have bigger plans into europe next year. Used to use a tent for many trips into europe but with a young daughter thought this would suit are needs better.... So, it is a two litre aircooled. Originally an Autohomes conversion, but at some stage I think the hightop was added. Must really do a little more research into its past. Its been handpainted, but is in pretty good nick (if a little tired!) Mike

The family outfits: On the left is the Bailey Senator Wyoming - series 6, don't have any internal photos but it's just the same as this inside: http://www.bailey-caravans.co.uk/images/reviews/20...On the right is the Coachman Genius 2 berth. It's a crying shame really because the Bailey only gets used 2-3 weeks a year, the Coachman is out pretty frequently through the summer though. We also have a 8 berth tent and a couple of small 2 berth ones. May be updating the thread later on this year as my sister really wants to get away for a few days so we'll either have to camp or have a van towed somewhere for us. Honestly, I'm sort of dreading the idea of camping in a tent already but it's been 10 years since I last gave it a try (apart from an impromptu night with the ex) so maybe worth risking it and seeing how we go.

I used to work for a VW dealership many years ago and borrowed one once. The 2 litre lump is very sound and quite powerful; enough to pull a fully-equipped camper with all the bits. Good luck with it, and you will find that there is an excellent following of all the transporters and variants. Pete

Tents have moved on significantly in the last ten years or so..... easier to erect, more practical use of space in the "family" tents, better designed entrances so that you don't necessarily get soaked when just opening the door when it is raining! Outwell Montana with a front extension is the perfect example of a good family tent. Can be standing in about ten minutes, and fully pegged out and guyed within half an hour. Video example of how to do it (by one chap on his own!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwPkZ872vbw

only time ive ventured into motorhoming, we borrowed this for a club camping meet off a mate a few years, USA spec Sea Breeze 5 litre+ engine that could be driven on a standard license, had some nice touches on board, 6 beds, full US size fridge stocked with beer, it was boiling weekend so the proper campers popped in for a chill off the A/C the owner brought it for paddock parking when he ran in the Radical race series

Used to have a Vango Banshee 300. Now have a Vango Hurricane 300. The Hurricane is mightly impressive in bad weather. When other tents look like they're going to get blown away this thing is absolutely solid but with enough room for four to sit round and play cards inside. When I've been shopping for tents I've always been annoyed at the lack of decent videos of the tents I've been interested in so I've done one for each of these. If anyone is considering them the links are: Banshee 300Hurricane 300

Another Bongo fan! 2.5 V6 Petrol Auto Electric everything and half the price of a VW. OK not quite as trendy but fine for us. R&R bed downstairs, plus you could, at a push, sleep 2 in the roof. Sink, cooker and fridge plus acres of storage. MPG a tad dire but we only do about 200 miles a month on average so no real issue. Insurance via Admiral Multicar thingy £130.00
