S 1 is being advertised for sale by a dealer in the Sunday Times today - I'd have it in a heartbeat if I could.

It's ( or was ) owned by the same guy that has 4T on a black Cayenne. Top guy, he's secured some personally significant plates for me on several occasions. Thoroughly, thoroughly decent guy. Not something I say about many folk!! ETA. http://www.boldreg.com/pics/newpics.cfm?pic=S%201....

You're thinking of 1 AN. You're right. 1 AN must be much older than a Morris Minor. Anyone know how he got it and why he can't sell it off the car. Loving (for different reasons) BIG 99 and HA11 RYC . Someone on another forum has J444 MYC spaced to read J444MY C. I know that it's strictly chav, but the best bit is that the owner didn't appreciate obvious meaning [edited for formatting] 1 AN was never originally issued, at least not in the normal series - AN xxxx was issued by West Ham but was never reversed. Non transferable plates are usually issued to barn finds where there is no registration document, but reasonable evidence (like rusty old plates) that the plate was originally allocated - and also where a plate has been sold, but then these are certain series (Eg USU, USV, BS). Can any one help?? FYI and in passing, if it had been issued it could well be on a minor - 1234 XX style plates were issued in the late 50s/ early 60s when the authorities were running out.

I bet that was an epic sight. giltranator said: I know a couple have mentioned that they wouldn't buy a 'car related' plate, however all the employees at my in law's business (Miles 33) have M33 and then their initials. Am I missing something? How are they car related? Walter Owen Bentley was the founder of bentley (I had no idea of that, I've just googled it!) I'm unsure how the 'TU' plates are related though No idea of the history, but 2000 TU is an original issue from 1963 in Cheshire, so most likely an original registration to the Crewe factory and, being usual they just decided to keep it!

Not sure about IoM ones IOM have a complicated history. All combinations since 1906 have used MN or MAN in some way. I do have the full list but too much to do to replicate now!

I had to make some number plates up for the little old lady who owned it. She told me they were her late husbands & had been in his family since the 1910's! I thought 1 F was owned by essex council along with F 1 which they sold J F1 sold by Essex County Council http://www.ftreg.com/blog/f1-number-plate/1F not mentioned I'm afraid 1 F was only issued in February 1957...

Essex County Council used to own 1F and F1, but they sold 1F first. F1 got a lot more publicity because it went for £440k. Here's a link.NEVER trust little old ladies from Hertfordshire!
