"If you use easy start, your car becomes addicted to it."

It doesn't, but you are obviously using it for a reason and if you stop using it, unless you've fixed whatever caused you to use it in the first place, it's unlikely to have remedied itself!

How can a car gain an addiction anyway?

This one's nonsense.
Such a load of rubbish I'm surprised it ever made it to print.

I first read this story several years ago in a car magazine. The writer claimed that he had been told this story directly by the Police Officers involved in the incident.

Also worth a bump.

Driving at 100 mph with the windows down will pop out the rear window in a Sierra.
Pushing all the windows down at the same time will blow a fuse on an old Saab.

It might be a myth in a Sierra but it's 100% fact in a TVR!!!

Some E36 BMW coupes would do that in reverse, and you'd get an unknown bang as a pop out vent window slams closed.

It's kinda true in a way, it you keep on using easy start without fixing the problem, you could find you need to use it more and more often until even that isn't enough!

WD40 and door locks are the same, as the thinner oils will disovle and clean any remaining grease, so the problem will come back worse when the WD wears off.

Well yeah, the car's not addicted to easy-start. It's broken.

Indeed, the only missile I know of that we use that operates like that is the ALARM anti-radar missile ( ALARM Missile Wiki).

The sidewinder is an infra-red guided short range air to air missile, I'm sure you could use it against a ground target that was hot enough but it would not fire on a police laser/radar speed gun, neither would an ALARM missile.

I had heard of a couple of guys borrowing NVGs and doing a highspeed run in a black Porsche without lights on. How true this is I have no idea as surely oncoming headlights would give a 'white out'.

According to Snopes the lack of depth perception means that you can't safely drive a car with NVG's on:

Depends. The binocular versions are obviously much better than monoculars when it comes to depth perception.

You can drive armoured vehicles off road using them so I'm sure you could drive on the road, in theory!

Anyhow...is it true about if you hit a pheasant you cannot pick it up but the car behind can. Myth?

Driving a vehicle at 10mph is dificult with NVG gear.

Especially as its not really that well detailed, you can't tell if something is a bump or a dip, it offers limited depth perception and generally a lot of movement makes you (me at least) feel rather sick.

I'm sure they tried it. But high speed is a word they probably thought of in the pub a while afterwards whilst embelleshing the story.

I've heard this one too. Although I thought it was the case for any roadkill.

Never heard that smile

Sure you're not getting it mixed up with the old Anglia? Where the back windows got sucked out by pressure at high speed when they first opened the M1 motorway?

There are some great tales on here, and some that I have always assumed to be true!
