Thought I'd update this thread. I took the Clio in for MOT today at Bellfields in Guildford (used them on and off for years). The car failed on the sun strip only, a heatgun and 1 hour later I was back and the car passed without issue. 2 advisories regarding tread depth (road wheels) and that was it.
They did advise me that next year I'd most likely fail if the car didn't have a seat adjuster.
Has anyone else had any issues?

My modified car passed today. Nothing overly in-your-face, so if you didn't know the marque you probably wouldn't know it wasn't all standard anyway. No mention of the remap, but then how on earth would they know anyway? I can't believe that remapped cars would fail even if they did know?!

Didnt even think about the remap...emissions maybe? I fitted the cat for the mot so am driving everywhere below 4k to avoid blowing the cat innards all over the road.

Yes, Id say so. Include a cordless drill and a suitable extension and bit.

The rules for the seats adjuster are if it has an adjuster it must work but if the adjuster has been removed and the seat is just bolted onto the floor it will not fail.

A full cage will protect the integrity of the passenger cell in the event of a roll, however if you're using one on the road without a lid, then they can be far more of a liability than life saver .... The safest car to crash in a "normal" road traffic incident, whilst wearing "normal" civvies, is a standard car packed to the pillars with airbags, pretensioners, door bars and interior.

Thread resurrection.
So apparently we have new rules AGAIN from 20-03-2013 (yesterday). What on earth actually changes ?
As usual the official documents make little sense in their lack of clarity (there is some mention of exemption for heavily modified cars, how interesting...).

The only mention I saw of the heavily modified part was perfect sense .... Rocking up in your heaviliy modified car that no longer has rear seats fitted, as they have made way for cage and harnesses, is not a reason to fail under their "standard parts missing" criteria.
We don't always need to read these announcments with our tinfoil consiracy hats on, you know.
