There was an interesting stat in one of the BMW CC magazines recently.
Last year BMW apparently sold 2 550i the whole year. Which makes them rarer than a lot of supercars.
Now I am not sure if this is 100% fact, does anyone have any idea how to check. It might have been exagerated slightly to emphasise how few petrol cars BMW are selling at the moment

Well its still very low, 1 550 M Sport Manual was sold in 2011.
If I am reading it correctly 32 550Is combined were sold in 2011, compared to 224 Ferrari 458 Italia. Its slightly more than the 8 Aventadors sold last year though.
I can feel an unproductive afternoon coming on at work!

Unsurprising, go back a decade and look at E39 540i Sport/Sport Tourings with a manual 'box as a percentage of either 540i or E39 totals. E60/61 545/550 Sport manuals are the same. Rarer than most contemporary ALPINAs. Although ten years ago if you wanted a 400bhp manual V8 Five, there was a handy solution available and for a similar price as aN F10 550i (setting inflation aside).
