What a great way to break down in style!
Big brave pills needed but if it goes for anywhere near that price then its a great bit of leftfield fun!
(Edited to say the Maser not the above 730i which if it want from Scumhampton would make a great fleet addition)

Top of the budget and FBMWSH. 2002 540i AutoShame it isn't a manual, were these on variable servicing as the service book looks like services every 2 years. And a sport. 2002 540i Auto Sport

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2000-X-JAGUAR-3-2-XJ8-AU...Two owners from new (both long term), 9 service stamps from Jag main dealer (doesn't say about the others). Overall looks in great condition. There's probably scope to the knock the price down. Perfect one for me would be dark blue exterior, cream interior with black or grey wood. Ideally a XJ6 and not 8 (I'm 20 - presuming insurance will be higher for the 8, haven't looked).

Variable, yes - as BMWs have been for years. But never more than 2 years between services, and generally about 15k miles maximum. So it looks like it was well overdue when the last one was carried out.

So it looks like it was well overdue when the last one was carried out. They can go up to 20k between services if its only ever used on the Motorway - it counts down based on fuel used. Oddly there is also no time based element to the Inspection servicing - only distance. The only time based references are to the brake fluid and coolant and a note saying if you cover very low mileage you should get the oil changed every 2 years. There is nothing to say the scheduled services should be done every 2 years. It is, obviously, good practice to have done so but even so...

Mine spends most of its life doing 8*mph on the motorway and manages circa 16.5k between services (around every 12mths) Fathers is coming upto 10yrs old and 58k, been serviced 5 times on time as you rightly say max of 2yrs .... Go on fox what's wrong with the rear pdc sensors? I'm struggling

I obviously don't need this, however, Helen thinks that the 7 is too big for town use and this could therefor replace our Megane. Massa town car?

Given it's replacing a Megane then Bork potential shouldn't be a worry. Does look lovely and if I were a rich man (just in case of the odd big bill) I'd be tempted. Lack of local specialists might be a barrier though! That 735i looks interesting in the pics, ad not great though - one you'd need to view.

I'd agree, the only thing wrong with it really is the mileage. Quite rightly, that shouldn't put you off, but it will put people off when you come to sell it. Price that in, and you could be looking at a good 'un.
