Just been on GoCompare as my renewal is due on the Z4. I managed to get it elsewhere however I thought I'd try the same details on my other car, a '96 Clio Williams. I can not fathom how it came out like this as the quotes were identical other than the value of the car decreasing and the seats increasing.  Can anyone explain why this is?

Maybe people with Clio Williams tend to stack them into expensive things, bring personal injury claims and get their cars stolen more frequently than recent BMW owners. A £10k Z4 is cheap compared to even a low value PI claim with three mates in the car.
(Yes, I know about the OBD thefts but I don't think the Z4 is affected and even if it is, the stats probably won't reflect this yet).

The Clio will be written off for a smaller claim making the insurance more likely to have to pay out?

My elise and mondeo are almost exactly the same cost. I'm much more careful with my elise, and it doesn't get left anywhere it might get damaged, stolen etc.
