I have a habit of keeping some cars indefinitely. This is one of them. Used purely as a leisurely cruiser, I trailer it down to Arizona every winter for my wife to use in the cool of the evenings. The car is as new. I think I will probably have a post on its 20th birthday when it has about 30,000 rain-free milessmile. It is a very pleasant, relaxing, refined old thing without any pretensions of being a hard-edged sporting device.

No, if it was clocked there'd be big scratches above the mileometer where they've forcibly removed the instrument binnacle.
Not necessarily , mileage can be correct via OBD port given the right software tools!
It was more of a joke on the fact that in the pic there's a big scratch over the mileometer!

Mine's done 8500 miles since August 1991. Including a few today.
Oh you have so much fun waiting for you biggrin
Turns out I was exaggerating a little. I've just checked the odometer, it's actually only done 7800 miles from new!

I've not got it now, but when i brought my old Celica it was 11 year old and had 17000 miles on the clock, services by toyota yearly, etc. minty. The guy i purchased it off admitted it would have been cheaper to hire a car every time he had actually needed one.

My Beetle was first registered in Aug 1961 and has 81000 miles on it. All previous MOT's are with the car to back the mileage up, it only covered 29k in the first 20 years of its life.

My Dads Mk1 Golf GTi, 1983 on 8,969 miles. Owned for the last 25 years, shame it's not been used much but various factors have contributed to lack of use over the years. Hasn't even been switched on for at least 15 years..

My Dad has a Z3 2.8 on a '97 R plate that has done 18,000 since new. He bought it at 13,000 miles about 10 years ago.

There is a garage round the corner that sells 1.0l auto grannymobiles that currently has a 51 plate something or other with 580 miles on the clock.

I used to work with a bloke (retired now) who had an 86 Ford Capri 2.8i with, when I saw it last about a year ago, had 580 miles on it. Owned from new as you could imagine.

I asked him if he'd leave it to me in his will. He told me to pi ss off, stating that I'd only drive it.

What would it matter? You'd be dead!

He didn't appreciate that!

Mine currently looks like this

Complete front end refurbishment was long overdue - however I was very surprised to find the strut top washers intact and the oil cooler leak I thought I had is actually the hard link pipe that has thined out and is weeping.....
