f you knew the numbers and letters then there was only one logical way to write it.
I can't understand how you could fail given 5 attempts.
I knew the make and model series in 1 but didnt know the correct number.
What would Carle accept?I can't understand how you could fail given 5 attempts.

Mercedes, Mercedes Benz or Mercedes-Benz? 190SL or 190 SL? There's several possible combinations.
Wasn't 100% on the model anyway, without the 3 combinations of marque.
Mercedes Benz 190 SL, Mercedes-Benz 190 SL and Mercedes SL 190 were all fails, there are more than 5 combos of those without getting the "correct" one.

Mercedes SL 190 would obviously be a fail because you have put the cart before the horse so to speak. It is a similar thing to people saying E Type Jaguar.
I did not know the number so simply put Mercedes SL as my first and only guess, but had I known the number I would have put Mercedes 190 SL and got it in 1.

I knew what it was in one, numbers and letters included, but couldn’t provide it in a format that was accepted.

Writing Mercedes-Benz instead of Mercedes seemed to break it...
I wrote "Mercedes-Benz 190SL" on one attempt which in my mind is correct, but not for Cardle.

Yes you were perfectly correct with what you wrote. Writing Mercedes-Benz instead of Mercedes seemed to break it...
I wrote "Mercedes-Benz 190SL" on one attempt which in my mind is correct, but not for Cardle.
The manufacturer name should have been accepted in both full and common abbreviation.
To be honest it never even occurred to me to put the full name.
