Heya there guys, I'm pretty new to the forum (Ive been a lurker for a while however) so first thigns first id like to say hi. Anyways on with the topic, i know all of you guys hate people badging up 318i's as M3's and 1.9tdi A4's as RS4's but ive noticed recently people putting tacky halfords badges on their cars such as saxos with 16v or 'supercharged' badges plastered all over the bootlid. Another example that i saw yesterday was a tdi passat with a Porsche 'turbo' badge across the boot. I was just wondering what your thoughts on this are or if you have any funny examples?

There was a page in Evo a few months back about reverse badging. Some chap had taken his E39 M5 badged it a 518 or something similar. He had deliberately chosen a model that didn't actually exist so it would just be the chavs who thought it was an inferior model but that those who knew would (in theory) see the funny side. I can see some amusement in that!

I'm in favour of 'reverse badging', in fact my Golf is badged as an 8v when its actually a 20v turbo.

Im all in favour of reverse badging however i was referring more to just 'wrong' badging such as the 911 turbo badge on the back of a passat tdi or maybe a V8 badge on a corsa.

I was thinking of badging my Evo VIII FQ330 as an Evo VIII FQ300, but I'm not sure whether I would survive the ensuing laughter fit.

Wrongly badged cars look daft
Reverse badging is not going to be noticed by 99% of people so more than likely a waste of time, if your easily amused then go for it.

Down-badging is a bad as up-badging IMO. It doesn't fool anyone who knows remotely anything about cars & that includes the intended targets, who will race anything. Debadging on the other hand is better in my book.
The best misbadged vehicle I saw recently was a blue van with V12, Cosworth, Turbo & NOS badges stuck all over it. Given the plumes of diesel smoke coming out of the back, I doubt it had either but looked badged up as a joke.

Wasn't it some one on here that had some cock-end of a neighbour who had a Passat and had changed all the badges, wheel hubs, radiator griller and steering wheel for those of an Audi A4?
