Would you? Have you? .. or do you fear being pulled over by one. Most people I see tend to hold back and not bother...

No problem with it. Just don't flip the bird when you do it.

Just be doubly sure that you know the limit and your speedo's accuracy!

The fact that it's a police car would have no effect whatsoever on my decision to overtake or not.

I haven't done it, but I dont think I would if the oppourtunity came my way either. Its just asking for trouble regardless of weather its done safely, within the speed limit, signal, etc etc.

And don't intentionally hit VTEC (Honda drivers) or change gear next to them with a dumpvalve/wastegate flutter (turbo drivers) as you're alongside.

Same here in all likelihood.

Police cars tend to brake sharply, swerve and generally be a bit less predictable than your average country road pootler.
You also need to factor in potential time gain from the overtake Vs the probability of 5 minutes of roadside sarcasm for your trouble.

On the whole, I'd say it's not worth it.

HMMmm. In the Cerb, pull up behind, drop two gears, signal, pull out and floor it!

Then again, no CATS, straight-through exhaust, 4.5 V8, maybe gently does it!

Coppers are human too, and a significant proportion of human beings seem to imagine that the act of overtaking them amounts to a whithering condemnation of their virility, intelligence and judgement. It's a factor I would weigh up.

Wouldn't even try

They will be going slow to go fishing

You over take them and you will get a pull as most of them are tts and view the general public as scum

I wouldn't bother either but most marked cars you see purposly drive slowly on country roads so they can pick out the impatient drivers likely to cause accidents.

As opposed to the arrogant, selfish people who crawl around without consideration of other road users and hold up queues of people which eventually leads to impatience and accidents.
