The 997 Appreciation Thread

The one thing everyone fails to mention about the 997 GTS and I'm always surprised by it is the wider rear arches. Once you're used to them a standard body doesn't come close.
Unfortunately the GTS wheels don't fill those arches very well. Which, because of the centrelock wheels, means the only alternative is to find GT3 RS wheels (which a PHer managed to do some years ago) and then lower it a bit. Adrian-9iafn said:
I agree with the wide hips, but a lowered 997.2 with 12" rims, 305's and the right offset doesn't look too narrow bodied, even when needing a clean !
I've seen your car around Bath, I have to say looks it great on the road, the combination of rims, tyres and ride height being just right. What sizes are they all, and what suspension, if you don't mind me asking? What's going on here
Yes it's a tip
I think I need to say, I quite like that matt army green. Imagining that on my old 996 with ambers.

Apologies if I’ve missed it but was wondering what peoples option was on this please? I’m not too far all things considered and wondering if it would scratch my 911 ownership itch perhaps?
Appreciate it’s a leggy one and if I did go ahead I’d be wanting a PPI with a specialist but the Hartech rebuild is huge mark in the plus column for me personally, but would need that confirming as like you say, the picture only shows an oil change and you’d imagine the picture/proof of that would be ‘the’ thing to include for a sale.
Drivers seat is clearly worn but based on age and mileage isn’t a huge surprise. I feel I’d want more/clearer pictures of wheels/discs etc as they’ve almost been purposely avoided? or am I being too cynical?
Any advice/opinions and what might be good to look out for would be very much welcomed
Thanks
It will be far from perfect. That should be obvious. It depends what you want. If you're picky I don't think its the car for you. Engine aside it could still take 5 grand out of your wallet in bits and pieces of maintenance or freshening up. So if you are happy with a bargain basement potential fixer upper but with an Engine you hope is as good as perfect this side of a fresh Hartech rebuild, then it could well be the car for You. There aren't many Hartech Manual cars for sale which are the right side of 30 grand.

That's crazy money, nice car but not 90k nice. Car I bought was chronically over priced (for the depressed market as it was at that time which was before things got silly with government loans etc, not so bad in current context) and had been for sale for absolutely ages, but had it inspected, it was clean and I needed a car. So coughed up. I would say all his stock is significantly over priced, especially given no standing in the market (certainly) and no facilities to speak of (I don't think, address on 'dealer' website is the same residential location I bought from). Prices up above where the likes of 911V etc would position cars but there is nothing I can personally think of he offers as a dealership proposition to justify that.
Some of his stock has been for sale for ages, unsurprisingly. I'd avoid unless he has something very, very specific that you think you'll otherwise have to wait ages for.
Thank you both
Yeah definitely aware it won’t be perfect but guess it’s trying to understand what you’re potentially letting yourself in for upfront as much as one can.
Would look to get a PPI should I pursue but for would for pretty much any so that’s not much different there. I guess there’s still quite a gulf between a 4/5k bill and one nudging possibly 10 or more would certainly be less ‘fun’ as it’ll still be a car that’s done those miles regardless of how much more money is out it’s way. Especially as there are others out there that for that (potential total) money that would’ve done a third (or at least half) of the mileage.
Hhhmmm, definitely need a think!
Thanks again for your thoughts and input

I cant link it from work, for some reason, but their website is an example of how to advertise cars properly

Black and being fitted with a Peter Kaye gearbox, makes it far from an optimal spec from my perspective https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202404108...

This on the other hand, is about as good as it gets :
