I think most of the money was spent on the engine & suspension as the car was in great condition prior to the rebuild.
Yes, the colour is unusual, it’s a non metallic dark blue with Oxblood interior. Was ordered new from Charles Follett, Mayfair.
A very unusual colour combination, and probably a complete one off as the dashboard black, not red like the rest of the interior thanks to a request to the 'special wishes' department at Porsche when new. I owned it from 2011 or 2012 I think? A good friend of mine had it next and spent the money on it with Tech9 – do you still have the wheels? Part of his spend was getting a set of the lightweight magnesium Cup wheels. Yes, the colour is unusual, it’s a non metallic dark blue with Oxblood interior. When I bought it I'd been looking for a 964 for a few weeks, checking the classifieds before I went to bed and when I woke up. When this car appeared I'd been busy early morning preparing a press release for a FTSE client, making sure everything was uploaded to the web. Just as I was about to close my laptop I remembered I hadn't checked for any new cars! Sure enough, a car had appeared after I'd gone to bed and I could not get through on the phone to the owner – who I kept ringing, and ringing (and leaving messages). Eventually I got through only to be told that I was in a queue of people who wanted it and the first coming to see it tomorrow. About 10 minutes later I'd managed to convince the owner to let me jump the queue and see it the minute he got home from work at 5pm. I handed over the money and took the car, I didn't drive it, I didn't look underneath, I didn't ask for a PPI, I didn't haggle. I wanted it. My constant ringing had also weakened his mobile battery which went flat after our call, when he recharged it that night he had a crazy amount of calls on it. I got lucky.
I had a lot of fun it that car, and it led to me getting the 993 C2S I have now as I missed it so much, knew I'd never find one as special again, and the wide body 993 the only air-cooled car I wanted even more. I hope you have a lot of fun in it,
I was exactly the same when buying 964 C2 after 7-8 year search and missing the same car twice previously. Dealer must have thought it was Xmas because I could tell he just dreamed up the highest asking price he could think of (POA and all that posh nonsensical malarky). Bought down the phone unseen.
Tend to agree.
I’ve had Porsches from six decades - 356B to 991 Touring - and the later aircooled cars are still the ’sweet spot’ in my estimation.
Perfect size, designed for purpose, mechanical purity, fun and rewarding, and mostly accessible on UK roads.
Granted there are some cr@p examples, but so worthwhile seeking out and maintaining a really good one.

Our 964 C2 felt like a hot rod out of the box and wasn't even fettled. Combination of torquey 3.6 flat 6, perfect gearing and small body shell wrapped around you intoxicating. Then you start touching the controls and the way the things made. They'll never manufacture 911s like this again.

Love that. And a great feeling too of "I'm having that one, it's mine!"
I also bought the Dark Blue car unseen. I called Neil at Hairpin when the car went on the website. I wasn’t the first caller, 3 other people had called to ask about the car, 2 arranged viewings. Knew I had to jump or lose the car. I had a stoke of luck when Neil said Jaz Porsche looked after the car on behalf of the current owner, fortunately I know Steve at Jaz, he said the car was mega, an opportunity not to be missed so put a deposit down unseen! Picked it up pre Covid lockdown so now have to wait to really enjoy the car. Can sit in the garage and tinker with the car. It’s my first 964 so feel very lucky to have landed a good’un

What a great story, very happy to be looking after the car for you! Am sure there will be another lucky owner who I can pass it onto in a couple of decades😉When I bought it I'd been looking for a 964 for a few weeks, checking the classifieds before I went to bed and when I woke up. Interesting theme developing. I bought my 964 blind From GT Classics after Discussing it with Paul. The car was exactly as described and an excellent example. With these cars, if it’s a good one, there will generally be a queue of people who will buy it. There won’t ever be cars built like this again. My 964 is still my favourite road car. They are capable of some many different personalities. You can pretty much create what you want. In some ways it’s a pity that so many are backdated. They have more than enough charm as they are.
