PH have a captive audience as there are very few other forums that are so broad and well developed but it would be great not to have continuous performance issues In short. Yes they are. The classifieds is still where the vast majority of the traffic is. The forums account for a small percentage of our overall traffic. Right now there are 4850 concurrent users on the site, 1000~ odd in the forums, 3000 odd in the classifieds and then a bunch in news and the other bits. The current system of servers and databases are reaching the limit of what they can support, the new classifieds will take those 3000 users and remove the load from our current servers off to the new and improved servers where the new system runs. Meaning a significant increase in news/forums performance for obvious reasons.

I didn't know the classifieds were that popular. I suppose the basic problem is that the site is too popular for it's own good?

Been finding the forum really slow today, decided to clear the cache with the help of ccleaner and now it seems a lot better so might be worth trying for a few other people too. Other sites have been fine but maybe with the all the background stuff going on around here it was causing a few issues with my browser cache.
Edit to say I might have spoken too soon, getting inconsistent results again now. Looking forward to the beta classifieds becoming the main ones and freeing up server space. FWIW I really like the new classifieds and think you should just run with them and deal with the issues as they happen.

Quite slow again this morning i'm afraid. Pages are only half loading and it takes a while to complete the rest.

I'm finding it OK this morning?? At peak times over the last weekend its been dire, but thats been explained by the number of users

I assume that these problems are showing themselves in the poor performance of the mobile site? At the moment it's pretty much unusable with the constant time out errors.
Is there a plan to fix it, albeit a plan that's going to be after everything else that needs fixing?
