I have this problem both on Firefox, and on my iPhone, although if I post on either I don't have to sign in...

Well I thought it was still happening for me as when I navigated to PH on a different device it appeared that I was not logged in

Clicked my stuff and instantly I was logged in (without username or password)

I can live with that

Just to be clear, we fixed the problem as per steps to reproduce provided above (pistonheads.com not redirecting to www.pistonheads.com). People that are still experiencing this issue can be related to anything so it's pretty hard (impossible) for us to try to fix something we can't reproduce. If you have clear, reproducible steps that when executed under same conditions (preferably some sort of incognito browsing with no plugins enabled) always reproduce the issue please let us know and we will happily work on a fix!

That is exactly what mine has been doing on multiple devices for the last few days now. And is still doing it right now.

FWIW, I am seeing the same behaviour across iOS Safari and Chrome on Windows 7. At various intervals, I navigate back to my bookmarked forum page whilst logged in, the bookmarked URL being....

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/default.asp?h=...

(Yes...mid=29....I can remember when it was all just a planetary accretion disk round here etc etc)

...and I appear to be logged out - no filtering of forums. Clicking the 'Sign In' link sends me back to the link above, and I'm in a logged in state, without the requirement to actually enter any credentials.

The set of URLs traversed are (with params redacted where they appear to be tokens of some description...and interesting that an HTTP URL is hit up in the middle of it vs HTTPS):

200 GET https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/default.asp?h=...

(Apparently logged out, click 'Sign in')

200 GET https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/userstatus
302 GET https://www.pistonheads.com/account/logon? <params redacted>
301 GET http://www.pistonheads.com/user/wsfed? <params redacted>
200 GET https://www.pistonheads.com/user/wsfed? <params redacted>
302 POST https://www.pistonheads.com/
302 GET https://www.pistonheads.com/account/callback? <params redacted>
302 GET https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/default.asp?h=...

Using the Charles debugging web proxy, I can see the following differences in cookie values in the two fetches of the bookmarked URL above.

Changed:

_gw
_sp_id.a92f
gsv2

Added:

_cmpQcif3pcsupported
.AspNet.Federation
ASPSESSIONIDQAATBTQB
IdSvr.WsFedTracking
SessionID
show

I'm obviously not going to post any cookie values here, but if the devs are interested I'm happy to send them a dump of the Charles traffic log.

I get the same behaviour as the above, across multiple devices and browsers - currently tested on both Firefox 68.02 and Chrome 76.0.3809 on Windows PC, and Brave 1.3.1/Chrome 76.0.3809 on Android.

Not the end of the world, but odd and slightly irritating.
