Oh I see. Thanks for your reply! I remember us applying for the Critair sticker just incase we had to drive through Paris, but I'm glad we didn't miss one for Rouen too. God knows what this is going to do to the Le Mans classic if they extend it to Le Mans village too. I'm glad I'm taking the Capri in 2023 because it certainly sounds like it won't be permitted to enter the town in the near future.

We'll be coming over via the tunnel, is there a recommendation of what route to favour after we come to the end of the A16 and can't take the A28 through Rouen?

First thought for a Rouen by-pass is Yvetot, Pont de Brotonne & Bourgtheroulde, a lovely part of the countryside, or Paris if you're in a hurry.

And avoid the riots. The locals, in their 15 year old diesel Renaults can't be happy

This is the sign. Presumably the red circle means no vehicles

No vehicles except categories 1 to 4 and electric vehicles? No lorries or coaches every day 8 till 8, and no cars, bikes and vans Monday to Friday 8 till 8 except bank holidays. That can't be on the major route through the town surely?

For Rouen at the moment it is 1-3 and January that changes to 1-2. That does include the major route that we Le Mans drivers take.

I've found this, which suggests the ring road is still usable without a Critair sticker, so hopefully see will be ok still to take the A16/A28 route, just with this minor deviation.

Keep up Squiggle. Although that map might show the current situation, the Zone is expanding to the whole city before next year's LM.

It will be interesting to see if that road sign posted above will be the correct conditions - ie. no issues about driving back through Rouen on the Sunday.

We saw them being barbecued by the Gilet Jaunes when they had road blocks in place

This is the latest one and it does pick it up on google that you are traveling through a low emission zone.

Crikey, that ringroad is quite far inside the zone isn't it? This is looking more like the choice is : totally avoiding Rouen or a midnight dash through the zone and hope the fuzz are asleep.

I can't understand it either (no through road)

And what happens if you live in outer Rouen and have an old car/van? There'll be riots

I'm reading that as no vehicles

Apart from categories e, 1-4

Lorries/buses 8-8pm every day

Cars/bikes 8-8pm Monday to Friday apart from bank holidays.

So you're fine in a car at night or the weekend.

I could understand that sign being on the entrance to a side street going into a residential area or similar, is that what the 'Multi communes' bit means maybe?

Communes are the regions with an area. For example this is a list of the communes of Rouen http://comersis.fr/communes.php?epci=200023414

Yes I'm aware of that, but in typical French fashion the information on the sign is unclear. If there are restrictions in 'Multi communes' rather than 'Tout communes' then it would handy to know which ones are restricted!

Having said that though, I think it will be A28 and then Pont de l'arche next year and avoid Rouen altogether.

ETA, That's if I can actually get a camping pitch at the circuit of course....

Avoiding Rouen is normally a good idea anyway, I always get lost!

I was in Paris in the summer in my completely non compliant car and the Police even moved their car so I could get a decent photo at the Effiel tower…

Not sure I really understand the classifications. I have a Morgan with a fire breathing 4.8 V8. It has the same Crit'Air number as a car made from lettuce.
