Two weeks into my dream of Noble ownership and there's a Trackday at Hullavington on Friday, but its a 100db limit and there's no way my Rousch exhaust is gonna pass that. Anyone have any advice on what to do or anywhere I could go to get baffles/silencers/whatever fitted? Am in the Dorset area but anywhere that's a decent drive away is fine... :-)

I want my Roush Exhaust to be noisier, it's far to quiet Do they get noticeably noisier with time as mines only done a few 100 miles. I still get baffle packing coming out so guess it will ?

Is it decat too? If so you'll need cats plus quieter tips to get it down that amount I think.
I believe its piper that make the quiet tips (lead time might be too long) or you might source some from someone here if you're lucky...

I've been speaking to Tim at ACT who did the group buy on coolant hoses and already offer track friendly silencers for TVRs. I sent him my roush tails and he thought something could be done and for less than Piper want. The next stage was to get the car to him but I haven't had a chance yet. Maybe you could pick up where I left off?

Some of the jap exhuasts have a removable tailpipe tube. This knocks the sound right down and can be removed for more noise. Take it to an exhaust specialist and see what can be done

Daddysumo had his rouse repacked... Well that's not quite true as it actually had no wadding in it at all when it was cut open. The silencer was cut and new titanium baffles installed and put back together ao that's it's easily repackable in future.
There is no reason why a noble should not get on 98db track days even without cats, after all mine does :-)

Ok, so I think after reading all your responses the first thing I should do is get a reading of what its actually producing, then go from there. I've just assumed it'll be too loud but I've not actually tested it. I've downloaded a couple of free SPL apps for my iphone and I'll give that a whirl in the morning. No idea how accurate they are but I reckon it'll give me ball park. After that I can work out whether I need to talk to specialists (Tim at ACT or Piper etc).
So that I get my terminology sorted, are the attachments that fit on the end of the exhaust called Tips? Or are they Baffles?

As playalistic said..quiet tailpipes, they made a massive difference on mine,,you want heavy solid material on the tailpipes, I used power flow to quiet my exhaust.

Aren't there muffler pipes which fit over standard tips temporarily just for this reason. From specialist race shops?

I've got one in tbe garage but generally there designed to fit standard round exhaust! http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/universal...

Juno said: Yeah they look like they'd either just fall off or damage the tips. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Cheers mate, I didn't think to ask if you'd already tested it. Did you have it tested recently?
