My CT4s will read 220 range in summer - put it in range mode and turn off the A/c and it will say 245. It's on the 21s.

Here's the reality - I get 170-180 miles out it. Maybe 190 in the summer, regardless of what it reads.

And real world that means not a lot of driving to drop below a 50% battery.

The battery power is throttled on a low battery and when it's cold, it's super penal - I actually had restrictions when it was sub zero with a 50% battery for the first time. In the summer, it will throttle from around 33% battery. So from 50 miles of range or so.

That means, a little over 100 miles of useable range before the power starts getting messed with.

Truly woeful!....V8/10/12 of some description when my lease is up.

Not doubting you mate, but I hadn’t had that in 13k miles with either of mine.

Are you sure your car is working correctly?

I had it on my Tesla MP3 so assumed all EVs throttle power when the battery gets low. In the current weather, I can expect at least the launch control to disable on about 70 miles of range and by 60 miles, I would expect the power band bar to have a reduction on it.

Maybe there is an issue...I just thought this was normal.

Car has now done 23k miles. Lease has 4 months to go, taking it to 24 months.

Yes our Tesla did exactly the same thing, but I don’t think the Taycan did? Maybe when I had 10 miles of range left, but definitely not at 50% battery.

Interesting - the norm is very much when it reads 35-40% currently.

I’ve seen nothing like this in c. 5,000 miles of ownership - it does sound like there could be an issue with your car.

At what stage does your power start to dip? And where do you live? I'm in Scotland so consistently colder and that will make a difference.

I live in the South East, so definitely warmer climate than you - I’ve never noticed any meaningful change in performance since I’ve owned the car, although in fairness I don’t frequently run it down to below 10%.

I’ve find the power reduction when you get to around 50 miles range , sometimes slightly more.
The “available power ‘ is shown in the same place as the regen . When the power drops it’s quite noticeable and annoying .

Yes, I've not had problems with power reduction, but am rarely below 35% anyway. Deliverately try to keep in 30-85% unless on a longer trip.

You’re approaching the comfortable limit, so sometimes you may need a quick ‘splash and dash’ so I guess only you can say whether that’s annoying or not. I’d only be a 10 minute charge.

The Taycan is biased towards performance rather than range. I love it, but if you want to bias towards range you’ll need an EV with less complex chassis tech and skinnier tyres. Personally I love driving my Taycan, but if I have a journey more then 200 miles and really can’t stop at all, I’d take another car. Thankfully, this would be a rare scenario.

Me too.

Mental how small the Taycan makes the 997 GT3 look. It is both longer and wider than the VW T6.1 van, which is often another consideration when heading out into the British countryside...

It is a lot bigger smile

The width is the main (possibly only in reality) drawback with the car. It's 10cm wider than my old RS4, which on country lanes is enough to make a difference.

Agreed. There are lanes I know well, where I am having to go very slowly because there's simply not enough width for oncoming vehicles. IME one of the biggest issues is that oncoming traffic on lanes without a marked median tends to underestimate how wide you are, until it's almost too late.

Mine too.

And the number of people saving 2ft at their side seems to be increasing. I think partly because hedgerows are badly kept and road edges poorly maintained mainly. But I also see a lot of people on these roads who obviously have no clue where they are, especially articulated lorries... Sat Nav grrrr. Do they not realise I need to drive quickly on my roads biggrin

You might be pushing it on very cold days a few times a year, but if you preheat the car at home to 25C using mains electricity and keep the air con off I think you would get away with it... 20" are a given of course as is not mashing it too much! 4S your best bet as they are snidge more efficient than the bigger motor GTS on.
