Massa's family celebrating that Felipe had just 'won' the 08 title only to realise Hamilton had just pulled the rug from under them. Brilliant biggrin

To cap it off that muppet Ferrari mechanic headbutting a wall in the garage. Classic!
Yes, that was a special moment. Not just for the "agony and ecstasy" for McLaren fans all in the space of one lap, but for wiping the smiles off the faces of all in the Ferrari garage. Wonderful, and unforgettable.

Watching this on TV had me on the edge of my seat, especially since Turkington was from NI.

Most of my favourite F1 moments involved Mansell, if he made a move you knew it would either be the best overtake you've ever seen, or the best crash. Finally winning the title in Hungary '92 was a great moment. This is probably my favourite, selling Piquet a dummy at Silverstone '87, after making up 30 seconds in 30 laps... great stuff. Video highlights here

Definitely agree, if I remember correctly, he broke down a few corners after crossing the finish line I believe because the car had been driven so hard.

This was my first GP I went to and what a GP! My memory of this race was the crowd, every single lap they where on their feet cheering Mansell on. As a 12yr old I was mesmerised! smile

Thierry Boutsen winning in Adelaide 1989.

Just the whole race was brilliant - I had it on video and must have watched it a hundred times. Wore out the tape!

This one gave me a delicious inward glow during, and after the race.

World Superbike, Donington, 2000.

Make no mistake, Neil Hodgson and Chris Walker were - in 2000 - two of the best superbike riders on the planet, blessed with the cream of factory Ducati and Suzuki steeds. WSB Donington, of course, afforded them wild-card entries, but in Race 2 Frankie Chili - the factory Suzuki rider - opted for super-soft tyres.

Frankie bolted.

Halfway through the race, he was teens of a second ahead. But with a couple of laps to go, his tyres were shot to fk. This is what happened next:

For me it has to be Mansell and Senna at Monaco '92.

Couple of moments stand out which I have been privileged enough to witness.

- Gil de Ferran's last-lap victory on Kenny Brack at the first Rockingham Champ Car race.
That's was a good moment particularly since because of the problems with the weepers they didn't turn a wheel on the brand new track until late that morning.
Yeah it was tortuous wasn't it? Still remember the feeling of unbridled excitement when they first went out and started lapping at speed. The following year was great to see Dario win, but coming off the back of Zanardi's accident I never got the impression anyone really wanted to be there...

same here, i think the whole world watching that race spotted lewis passing glock before the commentators did and as i really only got into f1 in 1994 i had a huge smile on my face when villeneuve slid into that gravel trap on 3 wheels in 96

Hmm, I was also there for my first GP, and I was 12 too. You're not me are you?? hehe

I'll add the already-mentioned '92 BTCC finale at Silverstone, I was there too and it was an amazing race! As a one-off moment rather than a race, watching Hamilton getting pole at Silverstone in 2007 was pretty memorable.

Mansell 'doing' Piquet at Silverstone in 1987. One of the all time great overtakes in F1.

Senna'a sublime first lap at Donington in 1993. Possibly the best single lap of any race ever.

To name but two.

Keke's 160MPH qualifying lap at Silverstone in 1985. I have a photo of the Williams as it exited Copse Corner & there is a clearly visible fine mist coming from the exhaust as he put the power down.

The engine was broken & probably wouldnt have lasted another lap. An awesome lap to watch.

Villeneuve & Arnoux @ Dijon in 1979. How good was that watch? I just watched it again courtesy of YouTube.

Epic.

Villeneuve @ Zandvoort in 1979 on three wheels. Some would say stupid & dangerous. Me? The sign of a true racer who never gave up.

'07 when Kimi wiped the smiles off the faces of all in the McLaren garage. smile

Only kidding.

My favourite was when Eddie Jordan joined in the celebrations with the Brawn pit crew after Jenson won the Championship. Such a joyful moment.

Some memories are fleeting, but two which stand out, through sheer entertainment, both involved Gerry Marshall.

One was at one of the Coys historic events at Silverstone, where he was driving rings round everyone in a Healey 3000 in the wet - sideways through the complex from Bridge through to Woodcote and beyond !

The other was him driving the Marsh Plant Aston at Brands. He started from the back of the grid (I suspect to make it interesting) and the proceeded to pass cars left, right and centre. Before stopping in the pits briefly so he could go out and do it again !!

No idea which years either of these were, but they both stand out firmly in my mind for the simple fact that they reminded me why motorsport was fun !

Other memories include hearing a BRM V16 engine running for the first time at Silverstone - you could hear it round the entire lap !

And watching Will Gollop, Martin Schanke and others at Brands in the rally cross events in the days of the silly bhp Metro 6R4 and RS200s.
