Following on from this thread

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I am now blessed with a delightful sun-fade red Peugeot 405 Mi16, which I purchased blind on eBay for £255. I then paid a further £260 (£5 whole pound more than the car) to transport it 444 miles from Irvine to Southampton. It arrived at 7.30am this morning, and it managed to move itself all of 200 yards onto my driveway where it currently resides under a cover because the leaks. This also included negotiating a precarious drop curb, which was at least 6 inches in height.

Does it look like a bit of a banger...yes

Can I open the drivers door...no

Has it got water in the footwell....yes

Did I have to remove the water with a glass...yes

Has it got a pink rear quarter, and excessive lacquer peel on the bonnet....yes

It is gash inside...yes

Can I drive it....no

Does it rock....fk yeah

Let the restoration commence, and get this back on the road! bowtie

Seats look good! Hard to tell from the pics, but it actually looks pretty straight. Is there much history etc?

I've recently bought a cheap runabout and found there to be something quite satisfying about going to a scrapyard, buying loads of bits of trim etc for next to nothing, and in a flash getting your car looking much better and replacing non-standard bits. I guess the struggle with this might be that there probably arent that many 405s left in scrapyards!

Good luck with getting it back up to scratch!

Can't be many 405's left with the Mi16 intact, considering the number of 205 running about with one.

I used to have a 93 face lift 2.0 Mi16, brilliant car

Sublimely interesting shed.

Drill a hole in the footwell, give it a polish and it'll be a minter. smile gonna follow this thread. Very cool car indeed.

After giving the car a proper going over with my mate Rich, I have concluded that it is awesome, and deserves many hours of love and attention.

The list of jobs is as follows.

1. Make drivers door work
2. Transport to Southways Automotive
3. Purchase MOT failure sheet
4. Make passenger door work
5. Prevent precipitation from encroaching on cockpit area
6. Remove gash wheels, kill with fire. Fit original 405 Mi16 15 inch alloys.
7. Replace timing-belt prior to annihilation of 16 large valves.
8. Replace leaking fuel pipe before it kills itself and me with fire (hot fire)
9. Replace front and rear discs and pads
10. Service
11. Fill French holes with metal
12. Purchase cone air filter to bring more noise (most important)
13. Fix remaining MOT failures
14. Take for 2nd test (having missed free retest within 10 working days)
15. Contact Woman to seek forgiveness. Cat misses her

16. Drive of my life

What could possibly go wrong....

Good luck! I look forward to seeing it finished.

I hope the work doesn't involve removing the delightful 4-spokes.

Man, those alloys are grim.
The rest of the car, however...

Awesome!
