Did these fit OK? It looks like the new ones are longer than the originals, I got some Meyle replacements for my fn2 and they were too long to wind then onto the track rod and keep the length the same! In the end I just swapped the boots over as it was those that had gone.
Really should get around to replacing them for good laugh
Just coming back to this one as the car was sent off for alignment but encountered a problem so top marks to Ian for spotting this one .

The Ridex units were too long to get a good alignment so after talking to a few people with FN2 CTR a replacement was recommended that would 100 % fit .

So i ordered some Febi units .

When going to fit them they were the same size as the Ridex units so another dead end .

Getting fed up i just had to order the OEM Honda units that would be the correct size but they are over three times the price as the Febi unit .

Then next to the Febi units you can see the problem i was having with alignment .

Then all installed .

I can now go and get the alignment done , finish off a few more bits and then can look to book its first track day .

Next job to be done on the car was to look at installing a bucket seat and harnesses .

I ordered a new OMP Champ R seat as i have run this seat before on another car and the fit is good for me .

New OMP Champ R bucket seat .

I also ordered a SWM Motorsport seat base .

And some OMP side mounts .

First was to remove the stock FN2 seat .

Then install the seat base , side mounts and bucket seat .

I had to order some 3.3 Ohm resistors to cancel the SRS warning lights coming up on the dash .

The last part needed to be ordered was a new set of Schroth ASM 4 point harness .

Then mounting them in .

And all installed .

The stock OEM seat has a weight of 27.5 Kg .

The OMP seat , subframe and side mounts have a weight of 9.0 Kg .

So another 18 Kg of weight removed from the car bringing the total weight removed to 97.0 Kg .

That's a hefty OE seat! Have you got any plans for the passenger seat?

Good seat choice. I've got a slightly older version of the same, and it's more comfy than anything else that I've tried. Plus never triggered my lower back issues. The OEM seat weights are crazy, was the same with the EP3 seats.

Thought i would copy you with one bucket and one OEM seat ATM but i may stick in another bucket in the passenger seat in the future and save a bit more weight .

It fits me well and is nice and snug so holds you in but as you say is very comfy and nice on longer drives .

Strange on the JED as i got my order in around a week but it is a good product so hope yours comes soon .

I will have a think about the 6 point and come back to you .

What happened with SW i know you were getting them to do some work for you ?

Apart from a long lead time and very poor communication along the way the roll cage and seat mount sub frame were very well made and fit very well .

Lots. In short arrived to collect it after having it weeks longer than first said for something simple to find still working on it. feet plates you could see where no good as couldnt use the clutch pedal with it in place, later found they cross threaded the rivnuts and left tools under it hence I had a nasty knock.

Cage bolts 2 out the whole cage where actually in the nylock of the nylock nut, 4 where not even in and finger tight rattling. Damaged wiring, seats in totally wrong etc.

Plus other stuff......

As for Firestick mount still no response so had to bang a claim in. Seems I am not the only one from reading elsewhere, oh well.

Sounds like a bit of a nightmare then and looks like i have just been lucky or there quality has gone down hill ?

Are you keeping the cage and sorting this or are you going to get a new one from a different company .

The cage wasnt from them all they have done is add a bar across so I've bought all new proper hardware and fitted it all in the cage so its spot on now, The feet plate I've modded to work and so everything is fine but taken over 2 days to do it I didnt need to do before it went to them.

Originally a friend ordered a cage from them and got it sent to me as he is from Europe, it arrived way past when it was meant to then when it arrived and we went to fit they didnt send half the hardware and the cage was totally wrong. They let slip it wasnt for his car!!!! They did take the car and scanned / fitted a new cage over 3 days etc to fix it which was great but its 3 days he was in the uk he had no car etc. Due to them sorting it so well in the end thats why I went to them - did wish I didnt bother but i've fixed it all now. I wouldn't be going back.

Question - Firestick mount mines arrived but its as much use as a chocolate firegaurd. Wont hold the stick even with the velcro tight as it can, is yours loose at all? (Bloke still hasnt responded to my case eiher!!)

I’m now on the last few parts to fit to the car and have been looking at a few track days next month so should finally have this car out on track very soon .

Next to get done was to look at the brakes on the car so i started looking at the rears first .

The callipers were not in great condition upon inspection so were removed and new units ordered .

New rear calliper .

I also ordered new calliper carriers with new slider pins as well as the old unit were shot .

The rear discs were again past there best so were removed and new units ordered .

New Mtec grooved rear discs .

Old vs ne disc .

Disc installed .

The rear pads had some meat on them but again were looking a bit old and tired so were removed .

I ordered some new EBC Yellow stuff rear pads as i have run them at the rear on my last few track cars with good results .

Next was to order some new Honda OEM rear brake lines as the units removed were not looking great .

Then some new Wezmoto stainless steel braided brake hoses were ordered for the rear .

And installed .

I also ordered in some new Febi hand brake cables as it made sense to change them when doing the rear brake upgrade .

Old units not looking so great .

And installed .

And everything installed adjusted and the rear brake upgrade / refresh was complete .

Just read through this whole thread, loved it, awesome build! The FN2 is really underrated, I really enjoy mine on track, it's not as agile as an EP3 but feels more stable and for my talent level (limited), it's more confidence inspiring.

How are you finding the scorpion exhaust? Does it drone at 70?
I have a custom long life backbox. It drones on motorways with the slightest throttle input.

I want a tegiwa 4-2-1 manifold with a 200cell cat as close to the manifold as possible but with the current back box it will be much too loud. Other option I’m looking at is tegiwa manifold and oem back box.

It is just a touch louder than OEM on tick over and no drone on motorways but give a little more noise so is very good if you are looking for something OEM + noise wise .

Im running a stock exhaust manifold , stock cat Scorpion centre section and Scorpion back box .

I got rid of the Milltek system as it was too loud for me with just one back box .

With the rear brakes upgraded done it was time to look at the fronts .

The stock front brakes on the FN2 Type R are not renowned to be the best in the world so an upgrade was needed .

First was to remove the stock OEM front brakes .

The front OEM callipers are a single pot unit .

The dust boot was also damaged .

The OEM front discs are 300mm x 25mm units .

Stock OEM brake pads .

I ordered a new big brake kit from Freaky parts that uses the front Brembo 4 pot callipers from the Megane 265 and 345mm x 30mm discs from the Golf R along with alloy adaptors , braded brake lines etc .

New Brembo 4 pot callipers .

New 345mm discs .

New calliper vs old oem unit .

New disc vs old oem unit .

Alloy mounting adaptors for the callipers .

Hell custom braded brake lines .

First was to remove the old brake lines and install the new brake lines .

Then it was on to mounting the Alloy brackets .

Thread lock was installed just to be on the safe side .

I ordered some new Winmax W 6.5 brake pads that should be very good on track .

https://www.winmaxeurope.com/products/compound-w65

I also ordered some Pure Track titanium brake pad shims .

And a new pin and shim kit .

Then all the units were installed .

Next was to bleed the system and install some new Castrol SRF racing brake fluid .

Then test fitted to make sure there were no issues clearing the OEM 18 inch wheels .

There is around 7 mm of clearance from the calliper to the wheel spokes .

Then to finish off old front brake set up vs new set up .

This should give the car a big upgrade in stopping power over the stock OEM set up .

Next for the car was to look at fitting some spacers as the big brake kit does not fit under the stock 18-inch wheels .

The Brembo 4 pot / 345mm disc set up from the BBK needs a minimum of 15 mm spacers to clear so i ordered in two sets of Eibach pro spacer kits one for the front and one for the rear to keep the set up the same .

Eibach Pro 15 mm spacers .

Then fitted again with some thread lock to be on the safe side .

There is not loads of room but they do clear the wheels with the spacers fitted .

I also had a little play with the ride height on the coilovers and am happy enough with this as a basic set up to start off with . I will book the car in for a full geo set up and corner weighting at Balance motorsport later in the year .

How the car was sitting on the OEM stock suspension .

How the car is now sitting on the Yellowspeed coilovers .
