Bookmarked, do like a lumbering R class.
A keyless go insert would pop into the ignition slot; it's then whether the cars Command system would recognise it..?
Those rivets / lugs on the rear quarter light, for a blind?
No that’s an interesting comment. Firstly, I need to do a little more google fu in order to identify the missing insert. Secondly, there COMAND system has been replaced with the android… another unintended consequence is that the dash clock cannot be correctly adjusted A keyless go insert would pop into the ignition slot; it's then whether the cars Command system would recognise it..?

Mini drama last night as I couldn't locate the locking wheel nut -- daylight helps...
The tyre guys were very efficient, I ordered the tyres yesterday -- Continental AllSeasonContact2 -- and dropped it in the morning with them. I asked them to check the alignment and tracking too, and also the part numbers on the alloys. According to AlloyWheelsDirect, the front offset (ET60) differs from the rear (ET48) and I wondered whether they might be mounted incorrectly and contibuting to the handling issues.
I received a call and he told me that he was shocked... some bolts were hand tight, if that and some were ridiculously tight -- to the extent that he warned me that the locking wheel nut might snap and he'd have to call a specialist in... I asked him to proceed and received a call a little while later to let me know that it was all ready to go.
New tyres... but as you can see, it's marked where one of the alloys is buckled
Lots of balance weights required all round!
Another of the alloys has been repaired at some stage and he commented that all four of the wheels are the same part number i.e. the same offset; I checked in the manual for reference and sure enough, they are different offsets on each axle
I'll have to ask him which alloys were fitted! I'll then source appropriate replacements x2, have them all refurbished/repaired, shod with the correct tyres and fitted/balanced.
He also mentioned, btw, that the alloys wheel refurbishment was shocking -- no paint on the inside and non cured in an oven, uneven paint on the rims so that he had to use a sealant against the bead.
As for the alignment, the o/s toe was pointing inwards other than that, camber was good and the outgoing tyres were in decent nick and wearing evenly. I'll drive it on the motorway this evening and assess the vibrations.

Also, for the airmatic, def diy-able, a couple of threads in MBclubUK, etc.
And if you want OEM parts then MB Edinburgh parts dept have the best prices, IMHO.
Thanks, it doesn't seem to be sinking or uneven, so it'll require further investigation. Needless to say, the issue has yet to reveal itself as I have had no need to raise the vehicle. And if you want OEM parts then MB Edinburgh parts dept have the best prices, IMHO.

Interesting car - I had no idea you could get them with the M273. Nice.
Pretty good spec too; ILS, Air, Pano & HK with a bit of Android aftermarket. And Sports bits. Excellent.
Yeah, it's pretty uncommon! Pretty good spec too; ILS, Air, Pano & HK with a bit of Android aftermarket. And Sports bits. Excellent.
In addition to the aforementioned, it's also not fitted with the optional massage seats with air bladders.

RE the glue, can you not use a glue remover like Autosmart Tardis?
I've just ordered a replacement part off ebay; it's a right old pig's ear.I had a go at detaching the boot trim rubber from the glue and it peeled away cleanly, so it should be straightforward to replace a few torx bolts.

May I remind you that you replaced perfectly good big end bearings on your M3 because... perfection
Replace a part of unknown quality, or don't and risk a £17k bill for a new engine isn't QUITE the same as replacing all bits of trim that aren't quote perfect.
But yes, that was a waste of about £1100, aside from. A huge amount of peace of kind as to the condition of the engine.
Never said the M3 WASN'T a money pit
