He called me today to tell me that it's almost ready...
It's driving really nicely apparently, creaks have gone with the large bushes on the control arms having been replaced.
The mounts don't need replacing, it's all very smooth.
Squeeking on start up gone, with belts replaced.
All fluids replaced except engine oil which isn't due for another five thousand miles.
He's been trying to get better reception for the radio, unsuccessfully. I told him that I don't care much for that, as any radio I listen to is on BBC sounds or talksport app. I did, however, ask him to check the o/s passenger door speaker for integrity -- as it was crackling -- and also the subwoofer, which I have heared working, but doesn't seem to work consistently or via the digital equaliser.
The fog light bulb has been replaced.
I asked him to replaced the number plates and the driver door check strap (and check the others).
Anything else? I don't recall, but it's looking good.
Glad you've got it back and it's driving nicely. When you say the oil is not due for 5k, how often do you do yours? The schedule in mine can be as long as about 16k but I like to do mine every 5-7.5k.It's driving really nicely apparently, creaks have gone with the large bushes on the control arms having been replaced.

I'd do it according to the schedule and use the Mobil1 MB recommended longlife oil.

It's the OBC that has a countdown driven by usage.
Yes, cars have been doing that since about 1990 but it's often regarded that these intervals are too long for optimum longevity and health. Each to their own though. bolidemichael said:

Glad to see steady progress.
Thanks! It was delivered yesterda and I jumped in this morning to see how it is.
Oh crap, I've never seen this icon before on the range indicator
So I drove down the A3 and about one mile from the petrol station... fortunately, a jogger assisted me to push the car across the road and I thumbed a lift... an Aussie stopped and gave be a lift to the petrol station and back! That was super fortunate and made the experience far less onerous than it need've been.
That's how much six litres moves the needle
The fill up took 81! litres in total.

My GL takes 100 or more... the pumps cut off at 100 so with whatever is still in the tank and the fact that I could still dribble a bit more in, it must be around 110.When diesel was at it's worst price, I got a receipt for £199.99 from one fill-up.

I came across this wheel colour on a VFR forum and I think this might be the colour to go for on the R500…
…Lamborghini Stain Bronze, apparently
I do like that, I'm just not sure whether it'd suit your car, personally. I think either a crisp silver or a nice glossy grey (something akin to BMW ferric grey).…Lamborghini Stain Bronze, apparently

Unfortunate name.…Lamborghini Stain Bronze, apparently
How's the R500 going? Is it back on the road all systems go?
The MOT is due in April. I’ll get it back in for that and also for them to rectify the power drain/rear cluster issue related to the wiring for the aftermarket tow bar.
Other than that, it hasn’t been driven at all.

It could be, thanks.
I also saw these today and it’s a nice shade.
The front of those spokes being diamond cut and lacquered would change the overall effect - I assume you're talking about the inside of the spokes.I also saw these today and it’s a nice shade.
If I were you I'd stick to the Merc sparkle silver colour on a black car. I don't mind ferric grey on a BMW but Mercs are a bit classier and it'll always look aftermarket if you deviate from factory.
