I dropped it off for the alloys to be refurbed. After all the umming and aahing, I took one glance at the shimmering serrations on the edge of a kerb-grazed dark alloy and decided then and there to opt for the sensible, practical and original silver.
I’d had some diamond cut alloys refurbed with Lepson’s last week and they did no better a job than Spit n Polish, so I’ve opted with the cheaper S&P for these. The two unbuckled and unrepaired alloys from ebay loaded into the boot with instructions to refurb all six unless they’re knackered and leave the two worst as spares. At least there is one of each offset.

To my eyes, anyway, they'll look waaay better in silver.
And, yes, dark kerbed alloys look awful.

They do look good, but... I broke a wheel in that style on my S600, with a 275/35 tyre on it, it cracked in two places when I hit a moderately sized pothole. First and only time I've ever damaged an alloy wheel despite covering perhaps 100,000 miles since in cars with 20" wheels and the same or less sidewall.
When I took them off I discovered all three of the others had been welded up multiple times, so I put them on a car I was trading into WBAC and was glad to see the back of them.
I'd advise keeping your spare tyre in good order

Positive feedback, that’s pleasing!
GoL, one of the alloys had been welded and another buckled. As such, I replaced them but have had them repaired and refurbished, as back ups.
It’s an awful and unforgivable pun, but it’s all down to pot luck at the end of the day.
The 21” do look good on these, however, and the handling is super.

Quite a few of the barge chaps in attendance commented on the colour, too -- it's a subtly variable tone, according to the prevailing conditions. I'm more than certain, that there were a number of ladeez in admiration too, but so painfully shy that they didn't even reveal their presence to the naked eye*.
