Hi David,
What mods are you making to the transmission to handle the power? I am tempted to do something similar engine wise but am put off by the prospect of needing a new gearbox/transfer box every 5 minutes!
Cheers, Bryn.

Hello Bryn,
I do have a rebuilt modified strengthened OE gearbox which would probably give us a limited amount of service if the Motec was programmed to restrict torque in the lower gears. At first I was going to run the car with this set up and be happy but I fear that this would be a false economy and would spoil the fun slightly.
There are options available if you have the time to make them work. The Bacci Romano sequential did look like an option but it's max torque is quite low and the one I know of that has been installed in a Delta has had problems (allegedly)
There is JMC Powers (Mikes) dog box which can handle big power. He uses this in his hill climb race car and uses the OE casings. He posted on Evocorner and offered a discount if four boxes were ordered.
Another option is to scrap the OE casing altogether and go for a gearbox and transfer box that has a proven track record of handling over 500 ft/lbs and which is also very reliable on track. This is the option I'm looking at now. The plus side of this gearbox is that it comes as a six speed manual dogbox or six speed sequential.
When we get the engine back in the car we will take a closer look and then decide.
Cheers,
David.

Hello Sander, The build has moved on a bit since our dyno mishap. The noise we heard on the second day of running was the oil pump gears failing which lost us our oil pressure. This triggered the failsafe on the engine dyno which shut off the engine at 2k rpm whilst we was mapping for the cold start fuelling. The oil pump we used wasn't new but had only covered a few thousand miles in a previous engine build, in hindsight we should have fitted a new pump. Could the lightweight ali pulley we used be a contributing factor in the oil pumps failiure? Who knows?? We will be using the OE pulley which has a harmonic damper next time round. Here's a pic of the gear.... When the engine was stripped down we found some debris from the pump so Nick and Derek set to work to strip down and clean out the block. Any parts that was effected by the contamination was replaced and the engine was rebuilt. On a positive note, the engine is in the car now and looking very nice. The brakes are complete and fully working. Fuel lines are all done, dash is in and bulkheads have been finsihed off. It's starting to look like a complete car now. It even starts up!! Next job is the main wiring loom. We already have the loom for the engine/ecu/dash. The main wiring loom is being designed and fitted by DC Electronics in Maldon, Essex. I already have a Motec PDM30 so we can use this. This negates the need of a fuse board and relays. After the wiring is done we shall get the exhaust made then send the car for it's MOT. Will post more pics when I have some juicy ones! Take Care, David.

Hello,
Just a quick update.
All the wiring and Motec install is now complete. DC Electronics have done a great job of designing and installing a Raychem wiring loom and programming the Motec stuff. Simon also suggested that we might as well run sequential ignition with the Motec M800 so he has also modified my engine loom to run this.
The car is now at Radtec in Stafford. They are designing a new chargecooler for the car. When they have finished we just need an exhaust making, then it's time for an MOT.
Thanks for looking,
David.

Merry Christmas Everyone!! Thought I would do a quick update on the Lancia project. We have all been busy with other things so the car is still not finshed.....but we are nearly there. Chargecoolers and new exhaust are now fitted. The exhaust is Group A style with the tailpipe exiting under the offside bumper. Alunox also made a rear silencer which can be used for road and track day use. Engine is in the car now and running. We had problems getting the engine to start with the sequential ignition with coil on plug setup. After lots of head scratching and checking of wiring looms and PDM prgrammes, Nick decided that the spark plugs was to blame. ( Something to do witn the wrong resistance) New lower resistance plugs fitted and she started straight away, what a relief! Here's a pic of the unfinsished engine bay. Lot's of work to do but it's getting there. The gearbox fitted to the car is the OE Lancia box which has had the usual mods to strengthen it. To be honest it won't last long without reducing the boost in the first few gears. This spoils the fun slightly. With this in mind I have been looking at other options and have decided on a 5/6 speed sequential box which will be rated at 700 ft/lbs. The box is in development now so hopefully we will be able to have one soon to road test. After the New Year we will MOT the car and start the live mapping. Once this is complete and I'm happy, I will send the car off to have it's Martini stripes painted on. Then it's back to us to apply the Sportline and sponsors deacls. Happy New Year, David.
