Nah I’ve only had 6 or 7 rebuilds over 3 Cerberas over 20
Or so years. They just aren’t very reliable. I don’t thrash mine, I warm them up relatively gently, check oil and water before each drive, service annually, only use TVR specialists……
How many miles would you say you do per year, out of interest?Or so years. They just aren’t very reliable. I don’t thrash mine, I warm them up relatively gently, check oil and water before each drive, service annually, only use TVR specialists……
Last couple of years = a couple of hundred
Few years before that = 1k pa I guess
Before that was maybe = 4K pa.
Early days = maybe 6k pa
I had my Cerbera from around 2006 to 2020 and 60000 miles, not one rebuild, didn’t really warm it up and used all through the year, more tack days than I can remember and a few trips down to the south of Spain.
Just general servicing, tappets etc, had one starter motor and one clutch, Str8six looked after it for most of its time with me.
Serviced every year no matter what the mileage.
You’re a lucky man!

Similar here, I think the AJP8 is a reliable lump, not much to actually go wrong and need rebuilds all the time. Valve stems can wear if poorly tuned.

What, no slave, coil packs, diff seals, lambda’s or other ancillaries?
You’re a lucky man!
A few bits and pieces, which I would put under general servicing. You’re a lucky man!
Slave was done with the clutch at 44000 miles
Coil Pack's, might have been, can't remember
Lamba sensors, I don't think so but they might have been at some point
Diff seals, the diff was never touched.
Throttle sensors were replaced, but a the time there was a shortage so they were second-hand.
The thermostat was replaced at some point and it had a new radiator cap, oh and radiator come to think of it.
Normal sort of stuff for any car of its age, it was a 2002 car so left me at 18 years old.

I've never understood the rules on this, so hopefully a little discussion isn't breaking any but I assume they went to Andy at APM via Dom, or by Powers themselves for the rebuilds?
I've had 2 cerbs albeit only for 3 years (1st cerb) and 2 years (2nd cerb). The first had a bottom end rebuild, which was the result of a rather poor bit of road repair smashing the sump. Stripped down as a precaution, which is probably a sure fire way of finding something that needs rebuilding.
Touch wood, nothing has happened on the 2nd but its an original 02 build engine with low mileage.
Seem's there's no hard and fast rule for when to expect a rebuild. I'm planning on keeping the car for the foreseeable, so i can imagine one day it'll happen.

Yeah the double rebuilds for each cerb is... an eye opener, for sure. Credit for keeping all those cerbs going though, you'd be forgiven for knocking on the head after the 2nd or 3rd rebuild, even as an enthusiast.

My current one is an 02. I bought it in 08 I think. It had engine work at the now defunct Sheffield garage, Raceproved. Their engine work never seemed to work out well. It’s currently in a place in Leeds.
Sounds great!
Promised myself I'd do more miles in mine this year.. Was heading to santapod this weekend (though not on the strip) but looks like it might rain. And I've spent the last couple weekends machine polishing the body and had the wheels off for some gtechniq c5 treatment! Had the aircon regassed today too!
