For me it would be the 355 every time, in spider form, TDF with nero, manual obviously.

If I ever move back to the UK there will be one in my garage very quickly!

355 and 360 are very different kettles of fish.

360 is a noticably bigger car and thus slightly more practical in terms of space. It's also more modern feeling and thus arguably more usable.

355 feels smaller and more go-kart like to drive, albeit more dated. 355 is a very flattering car to drive on the limit, 360 more prone to swapping ends on you.

Looks aside, you're never going to know until you drive them which one you want. They feel completely different to each other.

355 is a classic.

360 just looks tired and dated now (Strad aside).

I am not sure that £40k will get you into a decent example of a either I am afraid. I think £50k would be a more realistic price for a sorted one for a specialist indie dealer. That warranty is worth every bit of pice of mind IMO.
While I agree with David on many things, this is not one of them, at least in my experience of 355s smile

If you're precious about mileage, you'll need to be spending £45k+ for a 355, especially at this time of year I would have thought (haven't checked prices recently). Otherwise, last time I looked there were 40k mile 355s going for £35k or so from good Indies like Rardley etc. They may not be cosmetically perfect (maybe a bit of reconnolising/some sticky buttons/a few stone chips), but it's amazing what you can have done for v little money if you ask around a bit. So long as it's mechanically sound and has a wodge of receipts for work done behind it, you're laughing. Obviously get it inspected whatever, even if it is a dealer selling it as a second opinion is always valuable, and if you're uber paranoid like I was, get a compression test done. You'll have saved £10-15k than if you'd bought a newer car which, should the worst happen, will pay for an engine rebuild and a shed load of other cosmetic stuff.

Or buy the low mileage car and leave the high mileage ones for people like me biggrin

As for whether 355 or 360. As has been said before: drive both, pick a favourite and don't look back smile

Don't apologise, this is PH! You have to argue him into the ground until he submits to your will and acknowledges you are right hehe

Ahem. this 360 at a very respected dealer looks stunning for less than £40k.
Ok - so you can get a Argento Nurburgring Modena for £40k. Want one in Rosso Corsa? Want a Spider? Then add £4-5k. The ones I have looked at have all been in the £45-£50k range.

I agree with Mario in relation to 355's - but that is buying privately and not through a indie I guess.

Actually I was talking about through an Indy! whistle

Add 10k miles to this and it'd be up for £35k: http://www.rardleymotors.com/docs/cars/show.php?id...

If you want a Rosso Corsa one you're looking at £2k more, and Spiders seem to command about £1k over a GTB, or did when I was buying.

Actually slightly O/T, but it is gratifying to know that dealers are still selling cars of similar spec/mileage to the one I bought (or at least they were a couple of months ago when I last had a good look) for what I paid for mine 2 years ago woohoo

ETA: if the worst comes to the worst, you can always get it resprayed another colour....I've just been quoted bonnet, wings, bumper and door blend for £890...that only leaves the doors and arse to do....maybe I should go Rosso Corsa for a bit myself biggrin

On Friday at supercadriver/Vmax Stealth event, I drove my 355 to 170mph and a friends 360 to 180mph..... The 355 was more exciting because I felt like it was working for it more! Not to mention the noise was better getting there!

I love my 355. It feels so much more connected to me than a 360. And the 355 is far better looking in my opinion!
