Have kind of asked this question before but looking a bit more info if any one can help
Love and I mean love my 360 and every time I consider parting with it I can't do it, but finally I think the time has come to do it.
Had considered a 550 or 430etc, but with the arrival of our daughter I really think I would get more use from a four seater.
That leaves me few options in my budget.
1. 456 which I really don't like so isn't an option as such. 2. 612 which is probably my favourite option as I am staying with Ferrari (anyone know anyone looking out of an early model? Or one which would have a soft offer?) 3. 911 but very bored with Porsche 4. Maserati gran turismo. This car I think is stunning, but I do have concerns that buying even a couple of years old one the depreciation would still be of breeze block proportions. Opinions? Realiability?
Thanks in advance guys for any opinions or suggestions.

For me it would be a 612. Just a stunning car as long as you can manage the V12 running costs. Looks great, spacious, fast, 2+2 and with real road presence. I would love one but my plans don't factor one in just yet!

I went all sensible a few years ago and sold my 360 to buy an x5 to go along with the missus FFRR. Now however I am back in a 911 as i've had half a dozen of them in the past so I feel comfortable with them as a daily driver.
In your situation I think I'd opt for the Maserati, as you say it is stunningly beautiful , not sure of the depreciation but then again it's only money and family enjoyment would outweigh that for me. pretty sure it's basically the same engine as the 430 which is pretty reliable.
V12's are going to be thirsty expensive beasts that also depreciate and imho don't look as good as the Maser..

Try a really good Maserati Gransport? Has soul in bucketloads, which 911's don't. Rear legroom is very good, the car has superb performance, is fairly lightweight for a 2+2, and is generally very reliable. Has done most of its depreciation, so makes a certain amount of financial sense at say £25-28K for a really good one.

Good info so far. The gran sport just does nothing for me, and some else mentioned Astons which do less. Heart is telling me 612 as I love ferraris head is saying gran turismo is a better all round option

Depends a little on budget, love the last of the line one to one 612s, but not so much the earlier ones.
Edited to add that just noticed you are after an early one. Forza have one that I think would be worth a cheeky bid on.

I think you have already covered the main options. If you need 4 useable seats plus want a sports car (not a GT) there isn't much choice, which is why I spent the first 8 years of my daughter's life with a 911 of some sort in the garage. Finally decided that would have to get a 2-seater in addition to the 911.
You say you are bored with 911s but what about a GT3? A friend recently bought a 996.2 GT3 and had some belts put in the back. Child seats fit well and he takes his 6-year old and 2-year old out in it without problems. Think it only cost a few hundred pounds and was ok with insurance company and didn't invalidate the warranty he got with the car.
Alternatively, how about a CSL?

I think having always wanted a Ferrari by my weird logic going back to a Porsche is like a backwards step......maserati I could live with as never had one so something different. Early ones seem great value.....BUT don't seem to be moving much

Do some research on car number 4 on your list. Both the depreciation and reliability might positively surprise you.

Another vote for the GranTurismo, but needs to be the S. Reliability is on a par with the top Germans these days and will be significantly cheaper to run than a 612 as it only needs servicing every 2 years or 12,500 miles, whichever comes sooner, and will not depreciate as badly as a 612. They are also exremely good cars to drive, not a hardcore sports car (but then neither is a 612) but a really very good GT that looks the business and is incredibly practical. Drive one and I think you would be surprised.

So can I ask then do you all think an early 612 would depreciate more than a gt?

I'd go for a 456 GT! But since you do not want to, the 612 is a great option.
Also, how about a Continental GT? A bit heavier than the 612 (ok, a lot heavier...) but I imagine it will make for very comfortable cruising. Plus it has a bigger boot!
Or go for a DB9/DBS as someone metioned above.

Why not a California? I've just got one and I love it. I've come from 911s as well.

Bentley continental is not really my cup of tea and I wish I could afford a California but it is slightly outside my price range.
Anyone thoughts of depreciation of 6 612 vs gt?

I guess 612 prices will drop to 456 levels and GT prices will go to 4200 levels.
Having had a quick scan of PH Classifieds, It looks like the 612 will go from £60k to £30k and and the GT will go from £40k to £12k. I was only looking at the cheapest cars here...
Of course, this all depends on how long you will keep the car so your losses could be a lot less than this. The guide above is, at best, a worst-case scenario.
I think the GT would be a better bet since it is much better looking car than both the 4200 and the 612 and good looking cars should hold their values a little better!

Great for 2 adults and 2 kids (actually, it's fine for 4 adults) and is just the dog's wotsits.
