Just found the article - link below. The relevant bit is this

All the V12-engined model VH platform models will feature the raised bonnet line, which is needed to comply with the latest pedestrian protection rules. They demand more clearance above the tall V12, so the DB9 (project VH113), Virage and Rapide will feature it, too.
If they integrate a no option pedestrian airbag system, just as Volvo has implemented on the new V40, then that wouldn't be necessary.

But I can imagine Aston hasn't got the financial resources to do so.

correct, especially as they don't have to do that for AM310 and the replacement DB9/Virage, can't see why they would do it solely for a low volume run of V12s in a future new Vantage replacement

I really dislike the idea that we have to carry all this heavy, ugly safety stuff round with us.

If someone steps in front of a moving car, it should hurt them so they don't do it again rage

Well nothing would surprise me with AM !!! :-)
Out of interest, I know logic has nothing to to with it and I'm about to commit sacrilege here, but does V12V need more power ? I think the V12V is towards the limit of sensible power in that chassis but owners with more road time than me can give a far more informed opinion on this than I can. quote]
Probably not for most situations, but as Yeti has said familiarity...... So once you have owned one for a while you get familiar, then you could always have a little more powerbiggrin

The acceleration is intoxicating; I think I am a power junky though. Did I buy a V12V because it was sensible or that I needed it? No. I bought it because it was crazy to fit a V12 engine in that car and I wanted it. It is such an emotive car that sensible decision making just seems not to count for much.

I think I basically agree with you - after all, I will get a V12VR assuming it's made yet I've admitted I don't find it quite as 'sweet' as the V8S because I too find the power intoxicating but I think V12V is near the limit of power for that car without tipping the balance too far

Interestingly though, whilst the wheelbase is shorter than DBS with manual box, the weight difference is negligible yet there have been assumptions, including by my, that it was more significant. So is it purely shorter wheelbase and lack of electronic suspension that makes the car so much wilder in Vantage form than as a DBS ?

The tyres are a huge part of it, as will be the geometry - I would also expect some mapping changes? But I think the most significant thing is the shortened wheelbase giving the much faster turn in and less of a feeling of stability at speed!

If you want the truth, it isn't that much wilder than a DBS. The DBS is a significantly wild car in its own right after all.

However I like the enfant terrible of the Aston range reputation that's growing around the V12v so I'm happy for people to perpetuate it on here.

I can neither confirm nor deny that you can put a deposit on one of these to secure what will be one of a VERY VERY small number of UK cars wink

I'm guessing it will be something in the region of 20-25 cars?

Simples this one. Just call/email your local friendly dealer. However if you don't wish to part with circa £150k don't waste their time. teacher

Ive literally just spoken about this with my dealer having collected my car 1hr ago.

He was most certain that V12VR production is confimed, there will be 101 cars only and it will be priced at £150k + options.
