Rex Racer said: You may be right, but that's a little too little, a little too late IMO. I wish it would have been Vanquish = 600 bhp, and Vanquish S = 650 bhp in 2-3 years. Why? Just to make the car that little bit harder to exploit on the public road, where 99.9% of them will be driven all the time? If anything, more torque and keep the BHP where it is. I really don't care how powerful it is, as long as it's not lacking (which I don't think the current 470bhp V12 is), and it makes a nice noise.

So something interesting I just noticed was that one of the launch colors is called " Skyfall Silver" hmm.... wonder what that is referring too.... You can see it on the "configure" tab of the AM Vanquish page.
The car is starting to grow on me, I still kinda see it as a Virage S, it just looks too smilar to mainly the virage. The carbon splitter is horrible too. However no doubt it is a nice step forward, and it will be very interesting to see what the next DB9/Vantage look like. I too wish it had more power/less weight. Too me, the new DB9 should have been around 570 or so with the Vanquish at like 600, then the Vantage V8 around 500 or so, but oh well, it is still moving in the right direction. It will be curious to see whether they offer a volante version or a manual transmission. Too bad they couldn't have implemented direct injection on it, that would have been a nice bump in power and efficiency.

haha Yes I saw that right after I posted it.... hmmm!!! It only offered the exterior at this point. I bet there is a lot of yelling going on at AM over the last few days with all the website stuff. The Spec page didn't work for me a few minutes ago. The color was a bright silver a lot like titanium, but probably a bit darker, kinda neat to seem them returning to more of a pure silver over the grays in the last two movies.

The spliiter seems too contrvied to me for an Aston.....still gorgeous cars. I suspect the splitter is a result of trying to differentiate the car on the cheap from those that went before it.
Aston really don't have a pot to p1ss in financially compared to other car companies so until they can bring in the new design architecture which I think is due in 2014-5 it's variations on the current theme until then.

Love the colour of the blue/silver with red interior on the website, Is that a new colour. Too light for Casino Royale.

honestly seeing this and the virage etc etc in a way makes me want to go find a MY09-MY11 DB9 manual coupe and hold onto it for a long time.... the DB9 is just so pure compared to almost anything made after it.

I don't think it'd make it harder to drive on a public road. The only time that power is a problem is when you're trying to do a maximum acceleration from a stop, which is like 1% of the time. The additional power would be a great thing to have any time you're already moving down the road. Also, the electronic assistance is there if you lack the skill to control the power. Many other cars on the road today have 600+ bhp, and I don't hear anyone complaining that those cars are too difficult to drive or that they're too powerful (okay, maybe some of the insane supercharged AMGs qualify). It's a new world out there and I think Aston needs to step up their game to meet it.

Hardly 'many' and top end bhp isn't relevant if you're overtaking or flowing down your average road. It's a GT and will be laden with accessible torque, which is the point. The 599 wasn't a true GT and nor will the F12 be, its main competitor would be the Conti GT, which has only today been upgraded to above 600bhp but as it weighs some 500kg more is hardly an issue.

Since the whole car is now carbon fiber, I guess that means that Asyon has finally figured how to get an acceptable paint finish on carbon—unlike the claims for the un-painted vents on the V12V.

We all moan about problems driving our Astons in the snow and ice. The Designers listen to the PH Massive and contrive a front splitter that doubles up as a snow plough. And so life goes on and we find something else to complain about.......

Is it just me that has spotted a ready market for all those second hand front number plate holders most owners have removed from their V8 / DB9's? Put one of those on the front of the Vanquish and it will hide part of the front splitter. Everyone wins!

Adam2S said: Also I know this is being hailed as an all new car but I honestly cant see it - there is still far too much in common with current body shape, stlyes and interiors for me to believe its all new. That said I like it so... [/footnote] As ever, I will draw a parallel with Lamborghini... the Aventador really is an all new car but is very similar to the outgoing Murcielago... Same with 991 from 997.2, design language is very important these days. Rare for anybody to be making MASSIVE changes to a design since the Chris Bangle era of BMW... and that was met with vitriol! Last big change at Aston was birth of the DB7 after the Virage. Totally new car, built in a totally new way. They have kept building cars in new ways after the move to Gaydon from NP/Bloxham, but the design language stayed. Can the front spoiler be body colour painted? Anyone up for a photoshop attempt?

Okay, not "many" in the absolute sense but then again they're aren't many competitors at the level (and price) of the Vanquish. That said, the 600+ club includes: - Ferrari 599 - Ferrari F12 - Ferrari FF - Lamborghini Aventador - Bentley Continental Supersports - Bentley Continental GT - multiple Mercedes AMGs - Corvette ZR1 - Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and these are just the ones that come to mind. You can try to distinguish each car as somehow not the same as the Vanquish, but you'll never find a perfect match. As for horsepower, it absolutely is relevant. To say that it doesn't matter is silly. I agree that torque is important too, but torque figures tend to climb with power figures and my guess is that many of the cars listed above have a greater torque output than the Vanquish too.

AMDBSNick said: Would it be that noticable in black though On the sneak preview, there was a copper/orange one and also a black one (partly cut open to show the carbon) and indeed on the black car the splitter is optically "gone". Much better, because this splitter is really very Mansory-like in real-life too
