Not wanting to take this further off track, but I'm genuinely interested - do you work for/run a company who rents out real plants and waters them?
I'm not taking the piss - I'm genuinely asking.

Yes I do. I'm kind of second in command, for want of a better word.I'm not taking the piss - I'm genuinely asking.

It's a fairly big - but surprisingly low key - industry.

My business installed the 4Com HiHi handsets and broadband in June. I did not get any logins, had to chase these for 2 weeks, also have major faults on the handsets where callers cannot hear us. Reported this endlessly, had it escalated to 4 levels in the company and they have offered to change the handsets. Service is bad, equipment faulty, but we are in a 7 year term that we cannot get out of. Have an email train since june 2018 with all the issues, lack of response from 4com being a major issues - don't deal with this company, equipment is awful and have spent equivalent of 40 hours on emails and calls with them since June to try resolve. Avoid!

From our local newspaper in August 2017 - I don't know if things have improved. They are constantly advertising for telesales positions which indicates the level of churn - IMHO. THE Dorset company named the best place to work in the UK is making staff redundant.
Christchurch-based telecommunications firm 4Com PLC has not revealed how many jobs are at risk, but sources have suggested the number is 45-50.
The company, which had more than 300 staff, reported a pre-tax loss of £1million for the year ending June 30, 2016. It had made a pre-tax profit of £892,000 the year before.
A statement from 4Com said yesterday: “4Com can confirm that we have entered into a period of consultation with regard to a small number of redundancies.
“This consultation comes as we undertake a management restructure across the company, having conducted a complete business review. As this period of consultation is ongoing, we will not be making further comment at this time out of respect to those involved.”
4Com topped this year’s Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For in the main list for medium-sized businesses. Company chairman Daron Hutt collected the award from TV personality Ben Shephard.
Most of the company’s staff are in its head office at Aviation Park West, but others are in sales, installation and maintenance across the country.
Despite a final loss of £982,000 last year, the company declared a dividend of £3million in 2016, up from £1.89m the previous year. Directors’ remuneration totalled £1.29m, with the highest paid director earning £378,000.
The directors’ report filed with 4Com’s accounts last year put the losses down to the planned costs of investment and the launch of a new device.
4Com launched its own desktop phone that year, offering features usually seen in a smartphone or tablet, such as an internet browser, smart apps and video calling. The phone – the product of a hardware programme that began in 2012 – was launched in the first quarter of the year and 923 handsets had been installed by June 30.
The directors’ report mentioned “significant cash outflows during the year related to the planned and fully costed investment in the group’s new product development programme, the launch of the IP desktop telephone and payments to the Chinese manufacturer according to the minimum order level agreement for initial stocking.”
Chairman Daron Hutt founded the company in Salisbury in 1999.

Systems been installed and a few of the features we required are surprise surprise not available.. seems to be a major case of salesperson not listening to the requirements and concentrating on getting a signature on the order form.. anywho now waiting on them sorting it but I fear we're going to be disappointed..
Anyone had any dealings with them?..

As my mother used to say, "if you can't say anything nice about someone, don't say anything."
That being the case, my comment on 4com is below:

I am currently working with two companies that are in a similar situation, 7-year term. I also work in the telecommunications industry and I am reviewing all of the paperwork for them to see if any loopholes. Yes, you can rent phones over a 7-year term, note for your accountant you don't own is so it is a non-taxable asset. If those users on this forum that also have a 7 year term, did they settle off existing contacts as part of the new agreement? let me know and I will advise if I find a loop whole.

We also have a HiHi phone system that throws constant faults and little support. In reality we need to be rid of it however the telephony business is a pool full of sharks and be grateful for a steer for a telephone business that is reliable and can deliver.....

We installed new phones using these guys about a year ago:
https://shinenetworks.net/
They’ve been pretty good both in terms of hardware and queries, they are quick to respond and helpful.
