Hi guys,

I'm considering changing from my current BMW 130i and am looking at the 350Z. I understand the 2006 MY came with a fairly significant facelift (and 296bhp) and this sounds quite desirable in GT spec.

However, with high emissions, post March '06 cars are bloody expensive to tax so I was wondering when exactly the facelift came into affect and whether its possible to find a 55plate facelift car.

Any ideas folks?

Pre-March 06 facelift cars are apparently around but very hard to come by. However the annual extra 220 odd quid tax is bugger all when compared to fuel costs (about 90 quid to fill up at the moment) so personally I wouldn't restrict my search based on that.

im also on the lookout for a 56+ face lift, the word off the 350Z forum is you wont find a 55 facelift. I asked the question about the difference in the 56 facelift over a 55 plate, and the guys made up the list below. Apprantly a UK spec petrol tank holdz 80 litres, so its a little pricey to fill !

Body
01. Different Front bumper
02. LEDs at rear
03. Different construction front reflectors
04. Bi Xenon headlights

Interior
01. centre console upgrade
02. Nicer door cards

Engine
01. BHP up (276 to 296bhp)
02. Torque down (268 to 260 ft.lbs)
03. Modified lower collector (lower plenum)
04. Modified air intake
05. Variable exhaust valve timing

Other
01. Higher tax for cars registered from 23rd March 2006

Bonnet bulge came in at this time didn't it? Makes 'em easier to spot.

I think the bonnet bulge came in around 2007 when engine power was increased to around 310PS. Could be mistaken though.

I think you're correct - my recently acquired 2007 has the bulge but an '06 at the dealer did not. After some research the bulge is there because it's (apparently) a nearly all new engine and it is slightly higher than the old - hence the bulge.

I stand corrected. Sorry.

Just had a butchers at a 07 registered car which appears to be a 06 car: think I'm going to buy it too...

The screen price has been reduced plus they're offering a decent trade-in.

If it's the right price do it. Mine's the same as that but an 07 - only had it 3 weeks but enjoying it so far!

Enjoy! I presume it's a GT as it has the Rays alloys?

I have an 05 plate 350z GT4, which still has the old interior but it does have MY06 rev-up engine as standard, so 296bhp, but with the lower tax bracket - £260 p/a.

Hey, don't be sad fella. People dwell too much on the tax side of car ownership in my opinion. The higher rate tax on a newer 350z only equates to around £4 a week tops... the price of a pint in some parts of the country!
