where / how long are the longest STRAIGHT sections of UK roads - Motorway, trunk road d/c, a-road, b-road?
Just noticed on the satnav yesterday that none of the roads I drove on (in a 240 mile journey) had a very straight run ahead of them on the isometric map display.

Curiously, all I can find on straight motorways is around 3.5 miles of the A1M at Newton Aycliffe - seems quite short, really. I recall my dad telling me about driving a road in Australia, where some of the drivers would tie their wheels to the door handle and read a book or knit, as it was so straight. I'm unlikely to be able to do that in the UK, I think.
