If you are in hospital they would be doing this now unless you haven't reported it, and if you haven't why not do that instead of posting on here?
'People' out looking for an 02 plate Mondeo with some lads in it sounds dodgy, and I'm not 100% anyone just randomly drives into another person and risks damaging their car over nothing, and certainly not because he is a flash git in a convertible. The mondeo was probably stolen? Probably not or the police would have probably found it burnt out locally, scallies don't wander far from their "hood". What I find strange is that the OP says he doesn't know the area, yet infers he knows the people involved and him and people are out looking for the car, just waiting for it to come out of hiding.

I didn't understand the doubt on this thread, it didn't seem too far fetched to me. Saying that, a women tried to reverse into me yesterday and I had to swerve around her... I've recently being winding people up who have chronic road rage, its a dangerous hobby. . A couple of years ago a woman reversed into me. She thought she got 1st, and got reverse instead. No damage though. Again a few years ago, just put fuel in at a local petrol station, paid, got back into the car, and waiting behind this guy, who was waiting for a break in the traffic, All of a sudden, guy reverses hard WTF. "BANG" He hits his brakes, and jumps out all apologetic, said he decided to go back in the garage for fags, just didn't look behind him. No probs, he was a decent guy, paid the new bumper and spray job. vette

I don't really want to go into details about how Im finding out about these people. Lawyer wise..... Pretty much the same as the police, they can't do much without regs. Is there anyway I can find out how much my insurance will go up due to this claim? Before I actually ring up and claim? I have a feeling by the time we have found this car, it's going to be repaired and spotless again, and we are going to have a hard time proving who was driving at the time. This leaves me 100% in the s t, it seems totally unfair how someone can blatently break the law by crashing into someone, then speeding off and leaving the scene of an accident, and the victim is the one getting punished....... This is something me and my family are struggling to believe , but seems to be how the law works? I have witnesses of the crash, so maybe the insurance company will take this into account and understand the situation I'm in..... But judging by how the rest of these s t systems work, they don't seem to account for common sense, and tend to just play by the book.

You have to notify your insurer of any accidents anyway so you may as well ask them how that is likely to affect you come renewal time. They would give you a more detailed explanation than anyone on here could.

But said mental women tailgated me literally about 2ft from my bumper, I was going 55 in a 50 on a road with speed camera signs :S She then overtook me over double wite lines! 50 yards ahead the road opened up for an overtaking lane. So I overtook her (this is the inapropriate winding up an angry person part) she gave me quite a lot of abuse for doing this the road then went back to single lane and she overtook me again on double whites whilst screaming and waving frantically. We got to a red light me behind, I gave her a wide berth for obvious reasons. The light went green, she didn't move. I pondered. I saw the reverse lights engague the crazy b h was trying to ram me. I put it in first and drove around her, as her arms flailed from the window and she shreaked a torrent of abuse. What a mental. I really shouldn't have wound her up, she was already clearly steaming from the ears before she got to me :/

There are some real brain dead morons out there. It is a shame when they cross our paths.
Some of the replies in here are just as bad. PH: empathy matters.

What you can easily do by yourself is search for some quotes online - first not mentioning the incident , then for comparison put exactly the same data in but with the incident added - this should show the likely difference across a number of insurers . You could also ring your current insurer and ask for a quote on another car firstly not mentioning the incident ; then tell them about it and ask how much this will increase it by - ask what difference it would make whether or not you claim .

Covered a few reflections and stuff on the car. opinions on if this is a write off or if it can be repaired successfully and if so a ball park figure on price.

Why would it be a write off if the car drives? :S Where abouts are you in Liverpool? Doesn't look too bad to me. Get a bit of polish on it, I personally wouldn't ring the insurers especially you being my age. If you live round here in Liverpool your insurance will probably go up next year more than the fix will cost to repair.

I wouldn't even attempt to claim , it's up to you but you may be priced out of insurance for the next 5 years . Next time, don't buy such a gay car

Any significant damage would effectively write it off in the Insurance Companie's books. OP- Sorry to hear what happened. Hope you get some positive news regarding the situation.

Same thing happened to a guy at work. He has a 2 litre 156 (I think, not great on Alfas) which was reversed into while parked and they wrote it off. The damage? A small hole in the rear driver's side door, the size of a 5p. No idea why he even bothered claiming to be honest.
