What exactly are you expecting people to say? You've got a quote of £1,300 for a beetle, jump on that. I'd get more expensive quotes and I'm approaching 21 with 2 year NCB, no points, no claims and 3 years experience of driving high performance cars. I'm struggling to find any sympathy whatsoever.
Insurance is expensive. Either pay it or get the bus.

What are you moaning about? The cheapest I got this year aged 21 was £1740 on a 1.2L corsa. Over 65% of the insurers didn't offer a quote and Asda quoted £21000. I wouldnt even get insured on anything around 2L nevermind a f king land rover. And I'm 21

What's he moaning about? I don't think he's moaning. Some grumpy f kers on here today! OP, unlucky. I passed less than ten years ago, and my first years insurance cost less than £750. I've paid more since, but through choice, by wanting fast cars.

It is daft paying that much for a 1.0L Micra but the Beetle quote is actually very reasonable.

Not surprising so many don't bother! (Not that I am suggesting that is ok!)
Have you tried TPFT and Fully Comp? Sometimes this the quote is lower than TPO cover.

Ouch, those do seem steep for what type of car you are trying. You have played about with putting parents on/off the policy and driveway/garage/street parking as they can sometimes throw up some interesting results.
Oh and to the grumpy people, lighten up! He's not moaning, just showing what prices are for a first time driver on cheap low powered cars.
Have you tried a series landrover or early 90/110? They might be cheap to insure? Slow yes, but will teach you all you need to know on car maintenance etc. You may need to think a bit out the box from the usual clio's and corsa's to get a good quote.
It does get cheaper with age, although i never went into the performance car's, i went into 4x4s and i've never had a policy over £530 FC even with a less than perfect record.

£2748 for the VW Fully Comp. I wish a GT-R would only cost me £700 haha, dream car but then again the beetle is free tax and i dont think it will cost an arm and a leg to service :P

This is going back about 6 years, did a pass plus for £100 after test.
Saved 25% off first year insurance which equated to about £400.

Don't go third party only. Try getting quotes for comprehensive cover, daft as it may seem, you may get better quotes on comprehensive insurance.

Im using LV just now to compare prices and they are saying 1.9 2.4k for insurance on the beetle, micra and a corsa b. When you say go on your mum and dads insurance.
Do i start off by entering a parents details then add me on to it?
fully comp ads about £500 to the insurance on LV. When i enter my details i put TP only 3k miles a year and £500 excess.

last year I paid £2200 to drive my Dads Izuz bighorn 95' 3.1TD big and slow but well equiped and comfy. They tried to auto renewel it for £4500!
Just purchased a Volvo S60 2.4T insured for £2200.
People are right in saying thinking out of the box is the right way to go, I tried a Ford Carpi/Escort mk2 and they came out at like £800 a year!
And I'd rather have one of them over a corsa anyday
