Not sure from Chesterfield but I'd come via Buxton, take in the Cat and Fiddle, through Macclesfield and out to Holmes Chapel. Then head towards Nantwich and out through to Wrexham.

From Wrexham via Coedpoeth follow the A5104 towards Corwen. Then head towards Betws-y-coed via the A5. From there follow the A5 until you hit the A4086 which takes you straight past Snowdon.

It's then downhill towards Caernarfon, either cut though towards Anglesey or take the coast road when you hit Caernarfon.

When you're in Anglesey check out the old brick works near Cemaes in PorthWen bay on the North coast. Not strictly open to the public put there's a foot path down to it, fabulous place to spend a couple of hours.

Much appreciated, just booked a hotel in Llandudno, so going to amend your suggested route slightly.

Cheers - Paul

Great road via the Cat & Fiddle with amazing views, but somewhat marred by the average speed cameras along the entire road.

For the first section, the Chesterfield to baslow road us good, then turn left go down 13 bends to bakewell then go onto the road to Monyash which is brilliant. A515 turn right to Buxton then left at book store, immediately right and through harpur hill, left onto leek road, right then first left onto cat and fiddle. This cuts out Buxton.
