Anyone have any ideas where I can buy a " Cherry Bomb" exhaust from for a Chimaera that does'nt cost the earth ? there must be manufacturers out there making them rather than being restricted to the couple of suppliers ( who don't actually make the exhaust ) I have already been advised to look at.

Any thoughts or pointers would be much appreciated,

Cheers

its really easy to DIY. get some cherry bombs off e-bay and borrow a mig welder or someone who can.
These should fit. 2"ID 18"long.
Ive done DIY on my last Chimaera with these and sounded great. All depends on how much you want to pay

The ACT one is actually very good value. It's a complete new exhaust, is high quality and comes from a well respected TVR parts developer - other solutions aren't.

Wouldn't just sleeving your old one be as good? You could play til you get the desired sound, holes no holes a few holes etc? If your messing with welders then seems like it's worth a try first! Do Cherries sound much different to sleeved! Better I mean. Al.

Yes, loads better! Cherrybombs add bass and a nice tone to the exhaust without being too shouty, sleeved exhaust always sounds too trebly and often a bit tractor-like... Listen to a few at a Tvr meet and you'll see what I mean.

Just get some little silences made up and loose the box (perforated pipe, wadding and rolled stainless)..Nice and raspy better than the old tractor .

Keep away from the cherry bombs they will loose you power.

They were not to loud ,just raspy ! I sold it because this exhasut and the ACT Y piece was just to much ,prefer the standard Y piece and This conversion ,it`s just an ACT sports exhaust copy ..You can stick these in to get you on the track..

I need to get down a track and get a hearing test done! I'm at Bedford soon, will my very standard quiet set up be to loud! surely not, seemed really quiet after going in a souped up Chim.

Thats how mine sounded ,love the rasp ..you don`t get that sound with the sleeved exhaust .

Is that the ACT sports exhaust ,pre cats out and standard Y piece ?

It is pretty much the full ACT system... ACT Cherry bombs, ACT replica manifolds with non reversal cones and Clive Ford's Y piece.... loud enough when you boot it but not too bad idle and like you say that nice rasp.

Matthew, is this the same system you had fitted in your 2011 Growl rolling road video? Sounds fantastic and I think I'll be going down this route again.

Someone is pulling your leg Daz, if you loose 200 BHP per pipe, why thats 320kw of heat generated (in addition to the heat in the exhaust already) - I bet thats bigger than any gas house boiler you have ever fitted! (Thats not an RPI advert is it?)

I went from a standard system to an ACT cherry bomb system on the pre cat Griff and they both made exactly the same power. Same RR just 1 year apart.
