I've got one of these, it was registered in Feb 2007 and has a full Land Rover main agent service history.
Last time i was washing it i noticed small bubbles of rust under the paint on the tailgate and another bubble on the rear wheel arch where it joins the bumper.

Land Rover offer a 6 year anti corrosion warranty, my car is 8 months past that now. Does anyone have an success with a specific dealer or any success generally with a good will gesture from Land Rover for this type of rust? I had similar rust issues on my last RR as well but sold the car soon after so did not pursue that avenue.

Basically, if they turn round and say 'tough' then it will make me reconsider purchasing another one in the future. What are your thoughts and experiences?

This won't help you, but my 2007 Vogue SE is the same. Little bubbles just starting to form along the bottom lip of the rear tailgate, and a bit of corrosion inside one of the wheel arches.

Ho hum, one of those things to worry about getting sorted if and when it gets any worse.

For an £80k car i'd not expect it to start rusting after 6 and a bit years though! Thats my issue and i'm keen to hear if anyone has been successful outside of the 6 year standard warranty?

I had the entire tailgate replaced on my 2008 VSE for the very same thing.

Have you approached LR to see what the say about a "goodwill gesture"?

yes, at the moment there is a lot of passing the buck, customer services telling me to speak to the dealer, the dealer telling me to speak to customer services etc. The dealer was very snooty, he said they don't see any cars that are 6.5 years old as all their customers have new ones!!

It's not the cost, i'm sure it's only going to be a few hundred pounds but an 80k car should not be rusting after 6.5 years in my view but maybe i'm being unrealistic? All my previous BMW's looked like new at the same age!

Yeah, it's a joke. Mines a Nov 2006 (MY2007) and I had the same thing. The rear arches are known to go, but mine went at 5 years - pretty unacceptable in my eyes.

My dealer was very helpful and got Land Rover involved, taking pictures and dealing with them directly - I had the rear arches (bubbles of rust and paint flake) at 5yrs and later noticed the upper tailgate under the leading edge (bubbles coming through) at 5.5yrs old.

Land Rover said:
-rear arches - caused by external forces, therefore unable to repair under corrosion warranty. (argued it was ridiculous, of course, it's the wheel arch! - never had issues with my other cars, BMW's, just useless design and thin material)
-tailgate - they agreed to repair that under the corrosion warranty.

Ultimately, had the arches done for £200 and LR repaired the tailgate. Basically, LR will repair if it appears to be "rusting from the inside".

Worth a try.

Same here on my 06MY car. Rear arches starting to corrode and paint on the bottom edge of the tailgate has bubbled and now peeled away revealing the rust beneath.

Seems to be a pattern emerging….

My mates 2005 supercharged was rusting in the rear arches. The wheel arch liner seems really badly designed in that it doesnt protect the lip from stones coming of the wheel.
