(I meant WHEELS... not wehlls (whatever they are ... typo)

My 1973 Se5 has wolfrace alloys, 14" with new tyres. I want to fit aftermarket alloys of a bigger size, preferably wider rims att he back that th fron, so something like ...

Fronts: 195x65x15
Rears: 225x65x15

Anyone have aftermarket rims and tyres fitted on a GTE or C and if so what make and size rims, tyres have you fitted and have you had to mod anything to fit them (bodywork, hubs, spacers etc).

Cheers.

There's a fairly narrow window between having enough negative offset to clear the bolts on the top wishbones at the front and having so much negative offset that the rears foul the arch lips.

You can fit 7X15s on both ends with an offset of ET -10 (minus 10mm).

This will get up to 205 section tyres on the car: if you want to put 225s on then depending on the tyre shape you may get contact with the outer wheelarch lips at the back with this offset - better to come down to ET -5 and use a 5mm spacer on the front.

You will also almost certainly need longer studs - SE6 type - for the back: this will require you to either remove the hubs (deep joy) or cut holes in the brake back plates as there's not sufficient space to fit them in with everything in situ.

Tyre size/offset advice is based on the two SE5as I've had - but bear in mind that the shape of the bodies varies considerably from car to car and a lot also depends on the ride height.

HTH.

Nick.

Hi,

I have just fitted 15 x 7 Wolfraces on my SE5. I had to use spacer on the front wheels and adjust the steering stops on top of the trunion. I have fitted Avon ZV3 205 x 50 x 15 VR tyres and they look ggggreat!!!

My set of 5 (14 x 6) Wolfrace wheels will be for sale soon. They have remoulds on, but all are legal.

You can see piccies of my car on:
