Cordless DA Polisher recommendations

Recommendations for a cordless Dual Action car polisher needed please.

I know very little about the subject, so any pointers happily received.

Currently have Dewalt stuff and so looked at this as I have a few batteries, but seems expensive and maybe not as good as more specific car brands? -

I use Lake Country pads and Koch Chemie polish (P6.01 one cut & finish)

I'm not a detailer and TBH I've not used any of it in anger on my F31 due to poor health for a majority of last year; but once I've got some bodywork done to my F31 (just simple respray of both bumpers due to age related marks that were there when I bought it) I'll be giving the whole car a full detail and ceramic coating probably

I recently bought a Ryobi dual action cordless polisher from Amazon (about £40 cheaper than buying direct). Works perfectly well and has variable speed and a velcro backed pad.

Just be aware its a bare tool so you'll need to buy at least one battery (2 would be better) so budget for that too.

Can anyone confirm if the Dewalt DWP848N uses standard 5” pads and any recommendations for what pads and solutions to use for a simple light cut and polish.

I've have the dewalt DWP848N, probably total overkill for my needs but like you I had the batteries and wanted a cordless polisher.
It does use the standard 5" pads, I bought a set of 3 chemical guys hex logic pads of differing grades with pad cleaner (this is very good!) for about £40. I use it with Farcela G3 and G10 compounds and G3 wax.

Only downside is it's a fairly heavy unit, you'll want 2 5 amp batteries to keep going all day. One will be charged by the time you flatten the other.
Very pleased I bought it, cordless was definitely the right decision, made light work of polishing a big twin axle caravan.
