Bit of a random one, I’m finding it challenging to get the airbag deactivation fitted so I can put my youngest in the front of my 997.2 (rear facing child seat).

I’ve read that the 997.2 automatically turns off the passenger airbag if there is below a certain weight on the seat. Does anybody know if that’s true (I suspect it is) but crucially what the weight limit is?

I’m wondering if this is why it’s such a pain having the deactivation done… because it’s not actually needed!

I’ll try Porsche GB but wondered if the hive mind knew first?

I'm not able to help with the specific question, but interested to know why its challenging to have the airbag switch and isofix fitted to the front passenger seat, as I thought that was available to retro fit through porsche.

Porsche discontinued the kit. The piece of dash trim needed is no longer available in the UK (I managed to source from Germany), although the loom and isofix bar are available as separate ‘spare parts’, but I had to find the part numbers as the OPC just said ‘computer says no’.

OPCs don’t seem to know much about doing them so it’s taken an age to even get booked in… they are well set up for servicing but anything slightly off piste seems to cause confusion with the booking teams.

I’m booked in finally anyway - in June, for £900 odd total cost (about 350 parts, the rest labour).

Interesting thanks, I enquired about a 991.1 and ability to add it and the Porsche dealer didn't seem to have a clue as to what was possible. Sounds like the same issue with that as well. Very frustrating if you want to use a 911 with small kids.

Babies rather than small kids. In a front facing seat there is no need for the airbag deactivation; just slide the seat back.

For rear facing, put in the back seats (fitted ok in my 997 GT3).
