I've had an IPhone X for a few years and it seems to be getting on a bit.

The main problem is that the touchscreen either freezes or goes haywire (as if it's being randomly pressed 20 times a second).

Unfortunately the phone is crucial for my work (it ha various authenticator apps, it has my work email accounts, work Teams account, OneDrive and work bank accounts). therefore I can't afford to leave it with anybody for them to attempt to replace the screen.

1. Am I just better off getting a new one?

2. How easy is it to migrate all the apps from the current phone to the new one?

If you get a new iPhone then everything should come across automatically.

You use the camera on the new phone to look at an animation on the old one (or vice-versa, I can’t remember which) and they then coordinate.

I went from the 12 to the fifteen, and it felt like a very worthwhile upgrade.

One of the best improvements in iPhones is how easy it is to port across all your stuff from your old iPhone. One point to note is that they bring out a new version around September time if you want to wait until the next one comes out. I have a 14 Pro Max which is starting to need charging more often so I'm thinking of upgrading but my current contract is up this month, so my bill is dropping to £9. I think I'll just keep mine until the 16 is out then buy one and get a better contract then.

Depends what you want to replace it with, but even iOS to Android is a fairly stres free experience these days, including whatsapp messages etc.

I just upgraded my old iPhoneX to a iPhone 15.

Transferring your stuff is really simple. Just put the phones together and let it do it's thing.

I got mine from Apple and I got £80 for my old phone and it saved me having to deal with morons on eBay.

Unless you happen to be a politician and then very specific WhatsApp messages may vanish with no possible means of recovery smile

My X was my favourite iPhone until my wife washed it. My 13 and 14 have been heavier and thicker.

Thanks all

Glad to hear that migration is painless. I've had a look at Apple's website and it looks like I'd get £110 for a trade-in - I assume they will wipe it clean while you wait? I really don't want all my emails and internet history and stored passwords to be available to anybody else biggrin

They will.
Completely painless process. When I bought my 14 pro it took about 20 mins in the shop.

I thought payment cards on Apple Pay had to be re entered on the new device, or has that now changed?

The card comes across to the new device, but needs to be authenticated with the bank - you get asked the enter the CVV and then get a text/email code back to verify on the phone.

Transferring data to a new iPhone is seamless.

Just don’t expect any of the more recent ones to be any better, the X is (for now) the pinnacle of iPhone development.

Agree about the IPhone X being a good phone, it's absolutely fine for my needs (although i said exactly the same about my IPhone SE). It's just the screen keeps going haywire or freezing, especially when we go anywhere warm / hot.
