British GT Championship at Silverstone

Any good?
Was thinking about going tomorrow but can't make my mind up.

100% right!.
Silverstone have a unique ability to be as un fan friendly as possible.

1. No ticket sales on the gate, you have to go to the customer care building (or whatever it’s called) which isn’t a massive hardship as it’s just by the main gate, download the App and then when you’ve paid you get a QR code to scan but it was a delay. I’ll put that down to me as it prob says someone on their website that you have to do that but it would be much easier if they just sold a ticket on the gate like MSV do.
2. Despite it prob being their biggest event so far this year the only food available was in the paddock cafe, I did note that the other paddock cafe is open tomorrow). Again, MSV try to at least two or more food outlets open at their more popular meets,
3. No access to the end of the Wing to watch at Vale etc due to a Drive event taking place. Silverstone seem to take delight in limiting the ability to view different parts of the circuit more and more every time I go which unfortunately is less and less these days despite it being my local, I would and do quite happily travel to most of the MSV tracks regularly and it’s always a pleasure.
Again, MSV always seem to allow full access.
4. Slightly ridiculous point this one but it could have had very serious consequences (remember the famous Brands Hatch incident a few years ago where a bunch of teenagers managed to join a live race?), the double gates to directly access the track at Brooklands were completely open, If I was stupid enough I could have walked straight onto the track during the live practice session for BGT!
I informed the first Silverstone wombat I came across and was told “I’m sure it’s for a good reason”…!
Rant over but jeeze, it’s hard to like the place.
On track action was good.

On the plus side it’s the biggest entry in the championship calendar, and the longest race, arguably the flagship event, on the negative side it’s the worst track the series visits to view at as a spectator.
Personally I’ll watch on the telly and be trackside at other meetings.

Indeed. Plus those new buildings got rid of one of the better spectator viewing areas.

And I'm sure many of us serial Silverstone moaners spend more money with them than many of the one day a year F1 fan.
