Renault Captur cam belt question
Discussion
I am not sure but in the absence of any history I would not rely on a scribbled date under the bonnet.
The last owner could have put that there in the hope that it would convince potential buyers the cambelt has been done.
How does it compare on mileage re the cambelt change. If the cars mileage is well below the recommended mileage for a new belt you could probably risk it for bit, but I would probably change it, at least you know where you stand if you plan keeping it for a couple of years or so.
It will also help if you want to sell on at any stage, and could also save you a lot of money if the existing belt did fail..

I was told that Renault do not have a central computerised service database a la Mercedes. I assume this is correct ?
Renault UK do have a national service and warranty database which is accessible by every dealer. Is your Captur diesel or petrol? Diesels have a cambelt, petrols have a cam chain.

The captur is a 1.5 diesel and should have had a belt 30k miles ago - around 2021.
I think that is what I stated in my original post ?My humble apologies!
