Since owning my car I have had drop links, shock absorbers, roll bar bushes, control arm and top mounts done at the rear in order to chase down an annoying noise ( which is still there ) all at the rear
All aftermarket parts ( KYB/Bilstein etc )

Only just dawned on me should I declare this to my insurer? In no way do any of these parts impact the speed or safety of the car in a negative way

Thanks smile

Each Insurer might well have different views as what constitutes a modification but it would better to check with them now before there is an incident.

Not OE like-for-like replacement parts so notify insurer.

I'll contact them as soon as I can then. Thanks !

Surely most people who have wear and tear parts replaced on their car ( shocks etc ) usually go for aftermarket replacements and don't have to inform anyone ?

If they’re the equivalent of standard ones I wouldn’t be telling insurance. If they’re lower/stiffer then tell your insurer.

No nothing lower or stiffer just aftermarket OE equivalents. Car looks and drives the same as it did prior to the replacement.

As above, they're standard replacement parts rather than uprated parts like lowering springs. I don't think the parts you've replaced are classed as modifications so your insurance don't need to be contacted.

Standard replacement parts, whether OEM or aftermarket - that's maintenance, no need to declare.

Uprated/stiffer/lowered etc parts - whether maintenance or not, is a modification that you need to declare.
