I'm thinking of going to the Goose Fair tomorrow evening. I haven't been since I was a lad in shorts, what's it like these days? Worth going to?

you will be fine if you take nothing of value with you! my dad is a BiB and he even managed to get pick pocketed, this has also happened to me at least twice whilst walking around, once even on a saturday day time!!

Be very careful, look out for gangs of youths with Bandana's round their faces, they went through a stage of running through the crowds of people grabbing anything they could along the way !!SCUM.
Went last year, but not to bothered this year. But each to their own.

Like I said, I was a lad in shorts when I last went - by train from Mablethorpe (that's somewhere else I went back to recently, it hasn't improved...)

Thanks for the warnings, think I'll give the Goose Fair a miss.

it's a shame I suppose, because it has such a romance from my youth.. collect conkers, go to goose fair, get candy floss, go on the waltzer, pizza hut or showcase on the way back home... cloud9

I took a GF there 2 years ago and it was terrible, badly laid out, chock-full of ne'er do wells and general malevolent looking people from the meadaahs/bestwood etc really expensive and just a bit soulless frown

I had been looking forward to it for months as well!

the girl I took was french, she had NO idea what to make of it hehe

Ah that time of year.

I went to the riverside fair once, and went on one of the rides. My shoulders were too big for the restraints to go over so I got my token back to get my money back, only I never handed mine in.

End result = £3 better off.

Exploitation. You gotta love it.

I will be going on sat night. Its an annual thing for me and the wifey as I proposed to her on the bungee thing 10 long years ago.

Also just wondering drove back to Nottingham from Lincoln tonight and saw a very bright spotlight being shone into the sky. Presume it was from Goose fair but I could see it from the outskirts of Lincoln. Is this legal? It was slowing the traffic down alot as everyone was gawping at it trying to work out where it was coming from.

My Old Man use to take us there when we were kids at the end of the 60`s,it was our treat.Sounds like its like every other long standing event now,an excuse to rip off Joe Public involving a traditional event that many people enjoyed immensley a few years ago.
