Hello viewers,

After running a little rough for 2 days, idle unexpectedly dropped from 800 to 500 and stalled between gear changes, one back fire through the air box and hey presto!

I took the air box off to give it a tune and was confronted with this....could have been catastrophic!

Gave her a tune and now running better than ever. I still cloud9 this car and engine. FYI

Nice, looks like you were lucky not to have a melted car!

Yes, I think I will invest in an appropriate fire extinguisher. Then wait for a hole to melt in the bonnet and put out the flames.

Crikey, you were lucky! Thank god eh. Any idea what caused it? Just curious but when was the last time your clearances were checked and, if necessary, adjusted?

Cheers

If ever anybody is in the unfortunate position of a fire in the air box whilst there in the car give a good rev this will suck the fire back into the engine.

Does anybody remember the Tuscan one at Croft on the HHC track day.

I found exactly the same thing on my air filter, well rather RG did last week while checking the car over and doing the clutch. Same cylinder too I think, not sure on cause either, but a bit worrying..

WOW... lucky the harmonic balancer didn't melt too.

Would the same thing have happened if you had a Griff motor instead of a S6??.

Andy, when the TB's fall out of tune they get a little back fire action happening just within the TB it's self. And also the spray oil you apply to the filter is highly flammable as well. The clearances are were fine, she just wanted a tune.

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced plumbed system for under the bonnet of the Tuscan?
